The room was well kept. The staff was very friendly. Check in was a bit difficult because the front desk at the Baroness was not staffed. You had to cross the street to check in at "The Inn", which is a sister property. This meant either carting your luggage with you to another building, or having someone wait with the luggage while someone else checked in across the street. It's a minor annoyance. Due to the property being in a downtown location, there is a lot of activity nearby, including in the middle of the night. My wife was awakened twice in the middle of the night - once by a mentally ill homeless person who was screaming at no one in particular and a second time by a couple having an argument. Building security is excellent so we felt completely safe in our room. Walking around during the day also felt completely safe. The room was very clean. The bathroom was small but functional. The building does not have A/C so the room was warm, which impacted our sleep. My wife and I both like to sleep cold, so the warmth of a 73 degree day might not impact other visitors. A hot summer day would likely be miserable. The mattress was also not the most comfortable. It wasn't bad, just not as nice as home. The room was advertised as having a Queen size bed. The bed in our room seemed smaller, so maybe it was a double instead of a queen. The rate we paid was very good, especially for downtown Seattle. The convenience to Virginia Mason hospital couldn't be better.
