The hotel is in need of a refurb, but it is clean, comfortable, staff are friendly, very reasonably priced, centrally located overlooking the square which can get noisy when the casino closes. We always stay here when visiting Calais

Morning receptionist was lovely, however this was the only redeeming feature of the hotel. Beds were far too soft & low. Mattress had a huge tear in it. TV picture was terrible on all channels which made it unwatchable. Electrics were arse about face, they were not explained upon arrival & there was no information in any language in the room, which meant that when we woke in the morning we had no power to any electrics, so could not shower etc. We were on the 2nd floor & no telephone in room so couldn't contact reception without first dressing etc. When we got down to reception electrics were explained by receptionist & he said they had constant complaints about it, so we suggested that either guests should be informed on arrival or there should be info in the room. Also no facilities in the room for making any type of drink, be it hot or cold. I definitely would not return & recommend that people avoid this hotel.

Hôtel bien situé. Prix très raisonnable. Lit confortable. Par contre, radiateur HS dans la chambre et remplacé par un convecteur électrique non allumé à mon arrivée (chambre froide). Chasse d'eau qui fuit, évacuation du lavabo défectueuse. Pas de possibilité de petit déjeuner avant 7h

Personnel d'accueil excellent à l'arrivée (moins bien au départ). Très bien situé avec vue sur la Place d'Armes, mais sans souci de bruit. Chambre propre, mais lits peu confortables. On sent l'effort mais il faudrait vraiment investir pour rendre le séjour agréable pour des vacances.

Budget hotel in need of refurbishment

I stay here often, as other than the youth hostel, it's one of the few super budget options under 35 euro per night in the centre of Calais I feel safe in. I've stayed in possibly half the rooms and they do vary in quality from ok to not really ok. The mattresses are fine. The towels and bedding are clean. The rooms are clean. It's the fixtures such as showers, toilets, heating that are variable. I'm there just to sleep, so I am happy with the price which varies between 25 and 35 euro per night. The employees make up for the shortcomings in this hotel, they are indeed very helpful and kind. Linked hotel is Citadel, rooms a bit better there, but it's noisier there, you need to collect the key from the Belazur. This sort of hotel won't suit everyone, just people who care about having a comfortable bed and a shower.

Over-night stay in Calais

The management couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, both on arrival, during breakfast and on departure. The only point that I don't wish to mention but feel important to draw attention to the management, is that (in my own room at least) the bathroom window was locked-shut and the extractor fan for humdity was not sufficient. Likely as a direct result, there was significant mould present on the wall above inside window. The smell of this was very apparent both in the bathroom and to a lesser extent in the main bedroom itself. Solving this problem by making the window open and/or installing a more powerful extractor unit would would eliminate the health hazzard which this kind of mould is known to present.
