Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms and Great Location what more can you ask for
bradley John, 5-night trip

6/10 Good

Lovely location, building and hostel. Cold.

Lovely hostel, very clean and excellent location. The HVAC blower is on 24/7 making the stay unpleasantly cold for no reason with the temperature set to 22 C. It's personal preference but, simply putting that you auto instead if having it blowing everywhere, all the time would make it a spot of like to return to.

Will be back there again!

2/10 Poor

There was an issue with the booking website where the room was cancelled without a refund, so I rebooked. Auberge, despite knowing/admitting that I had paid twice, refused to refund the double payment. It was an issue with booking, but Auberge could have easily fixed things and instead chose to double dip.

No one ever fits in the middle bunk. Rest of the place and service are gold.

Good location. Reception staff are nice and helpful. I was on the top bunk which i didn't like. But the hostel was full and couldn't switch me.
Casey, 4-night trip

6/10 Good

A rather disappointing experience, the place seems a bit outdated, is super noisy especially on the ground floor where loud late chitchat interferes with sleep. Location is the main highlight of this place, ideally located in old Montreal with beautiful streets nearby. The space between beds is so small you bang your head and back trying to get in and out horizontally, had a few bruises as a result. Insufficient number of toilets and showers, insufficient infrequent cleaning made the bathrooms a mess most of the time, out of paper a few times, lights going off while you’re still in, no space nowhere to put even a little bag of toiletries while you brush your teeth. The kitchen had a bare minimum, no breakfast unlike some other hostels offering amazing breakfasts. Coffee and tea were complimentary.

Great location for a fair price.

You cannot beat the location of this hostel. close to downtown, public transportation, tourist areas. The bathrooms were clean and the beds good. It is hostel, so expect that experience. I would stay again.

I stayed here for one week. This place is just so amazing and comfortable to stay at. Everyone is great. Claire and Ramon has helped me so much as they are being really nice to me. They let guests to have complimentary coffee and tea, as well as using the washer with no extra cost. Everywhere in this place is very clean. They host a lot of fun events. I am able to meet very interesting people from around the world.

They forbid wearing any shoes, and the floor is cold in the basement
Olexandr, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Stayed for one night so I could catch a connecting flight in the morning. I didn’t stay in the main building nor did I use any of the common areas. I struggled getting through the building with all the different codes since key cards are not in use. The shared bathrooms outside my room were dirty and had water all over the floor. The toilet paper dispenser was broken. Both toilets were clogged when I arrived. It should also be advised that shoes are not allowed in the complex. I didn’t have slippers so I had to walk around barefoot. I tiptoed everywhere, it was unpleasant. The positive: lockers in the room, large enough to put my carry on suitcase and extra items.
Kaitland, 1-night trip

First time staying at a hostel and everything was great! It was cold in my dorm room at night because the AC was on but that can be fixed by bring a blanket. The hostel is located in an area where you can get to all the attractions of Montreal easily. I spent most of my time getting through Montreal using a bike or walking. There are many shops and restaurants in this area as well.
John, 4-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Excellent place. Very clean, comfortable beds and bathrooms, free washing machines, with a big, well-equipped kitchen and three big fridges to keep your own food and cook it on the spot. The people sharing the bedrooms are really quiet and respectful. It is very safe; I left my cell phone by mistake on the dining table for a whole day and nobody took it. The beds are very comfortable, and it is close to a subway station. No grocery store at walking distance, though.
Francoise, 8-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

It is by far the best hostel that I have stayed in as far as the country is concerned. Having access codes to enter the building is interesting, rather than an open reception. But as far as Canada is concerned this makes sense due to the housing crisis and the unhoused people issue which would cause random people to walk in and cause problems. This is an example of how a hostel should and can run in a very tightly regulated country like Canada.
