8/10 Good

Hotel was okay for being an old building .

8/10 Good

Staff were amazing during check in and check out, the car park was full when I called so I was directed to the nearest car park. The bed was comfy and the shower had a decent water pressure. Breakfasts available looked lovely but slept in too late to manage to have any!

Uncomfortable bed

Mattress was sprung and totally worn out. Not comfortable at all. Hotel needs refreshing all over, carpets and decor. Staff are friendly and helpful and in the middle of the town.

A short stay with work

A very convenient location, lovely room, nice breakfast and is being cosmetically updated. Fabulously helpful receptionist who helped me when I couldn't find the car park
Christopher, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Olde worlde hotel with heritage, history, lots of wood and creaky floors. The treads on the stairs were worn and some were held together with gaffer tape. But don't let the common areas put you off. The room was really great. Money has been spent on modernising and it has been spent well. Very happy with the accommodation. If you decide to go to Morrisons for refreshment, ask the staff for directions and save yourself a mole detour! Staff pleasant and helpful.

Room was clean. Modern bathroom. Comfortable bed. Creaky floors due to the age of the building.

Good Location - Poor Parking

The property is in need of fixing up.

2/10 Terrible

Awful WiFi, noisy all night long, poor condition

Absolutely awful! Close to a nightclub so noisy all night long. Awful WiFi and the hotel is in a poor condition. Never again!
1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Bedding hadn’t been changed for 3 nights in a row even though they was dirty, even seen blood spots on the pillow. Parking very tight, barely any space etc so beware if you have a larger car. Tv in bedroom was probably 16” so you won’t be watching a lot of that. Most enjoyable part of the stay was leaving.
Daryl, 4-night trip

4/10 Poor

This hotel has seen better days. It was shabby and unloved. Most of the staff were unhelpful though the morning receptionist did give us a lovely smile. The room itself was ok though there was a bath inexplicably in the room itself. The room looked on to the central town square and was very noisy. Our bed was fine but others complained of very uncomfortable beds. There was no fruit at all available for breakfast. Parking was limited and far away. We were up two steep flights of stairs and the place would have been unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The stair carpets were extremely worn. Overall the place needs a total makeover
Nicola, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Room mostly clean, however lots of cob webs and needs a good dusting. Radiator heat was poor but an electric heater was already in the room and warmed it up nicely. Bedding was fresh and clean as were bathroom towels. Breakfast was ok, ate out both evening at the excellent Lounge opposite. Feels like a place running on fumes until it fails, which is unfortunate because it could be much more if investment was available. Was awoken on both nights at midnight by the fire alarm. Staff were friendly and trying their best. Very much a contractors hotel in my eyes.
Michael, 2-night trip

6/10 Okay

The property was nice and very central but the room was very hot and only two of the four windows could be opened though not that far. It was a bit noisy as the delivery trucks we pulling up all day. Beeping alarms as the reverse and the loading or unloading of deliveries under our window was pretty loud. I liked the hotel and the rooms. I was a bit flustered in the reception area and a long journey. I and my partner suffer from severe anxiety and mine includes, severe depression. When we arrived and finally logged into the WIFI. I needed to transfer some money from one account to the other and I asked if I could pay £85 of the total, £140 and do the transfer in the room to return and pay the balance but I was answered with no. I can't gi9ve you the key until the bill is paid first. I understood but it caused distress and an awkward uncomfortable atmosphere. There was one seat which my partner was using and as the reception area was small the other guests approached to request help. This was embarrassing as it looked like I wasn't able to pay. I got more flustered, worrying about causing a delay to all which took me longer. There was cockroaches in the room and I caught one. Trapped it in a glass and delivered it to the guy on reception. The cockroach was still alive and knocking around the glass from the room. The staff member said thanks as he took the glass like it was a common practise or he didn't give a toss about this health and safety/EHO issue I had brought to him
