CHECK REVIEWS ON ALL PLATFORMS. See photos for more info. “Premium Apartment”, stayed 5 nights. It’s not stated on advertisement that this is not a serviced apartment. Found out after booking and paying that it’s privately owned rental unit. The check in process was abnormal - bunch of people all waiting outside the apartment lobby to check in, a lady gathers everyone like school camp before ushering us in the lift and dropping us at our apartment. It did not feel safe that other guests knew which room we were located in, let alone the lady never even introduced herself, provided name or business card etc and just invited herself into your room to take a bond. If you’re a solo traveller I do not recommend. Other reviews from March 2026 on google and (which is now deleted and the business name has changed from City Stays to 88 Rentals) show the exact room I got and it doesn’t seem they’d taken that feedback or rectified anything listed in that review! e.g broken and dirty stove, broken window sill handles, nasty stain on couch etc. I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the stress of complaining and potentially moving rooms while I was on a holiday, especially after seeing the lack of care and argumentative responses from the operator in other peoples previous reviews. The only thing good about this place is the location. The room lacks major attention to detail.

Room was generally ok. AC was very loud so could not be left on at night. Just a couple of little things could of made the stay a little better - e.g.: no extra bin bags, limited toilet paper. Guy looking after the room was easy to deal with.

Room and location very good.BUT booking in a nightmare…there is no one on reception so if you are arriving late, or if there is an issue with your room you must phone and wait.If you lock yourself out no one on site to help…worth paying a little more and getting the luxery of someone at the premises. Apartment had everything you need which is handy as it is only 5 mins away from the Queen Victoria Market! Only downside was that the washer/dryer was not working but I even found a line dryer for my sink washing. At this price point - recommended.

Staff receiving us were courteous. The building does not have parking and we did not realise that until we got there, a nightmare and expensive to park around Melbourne CBD. Bathroom was very poorly cleaned. We asked to clean it, they came a day later, but we were to leave the next day. Carpet needs an overhaul as well as the dishwasher.
