When we arrived, there was no record of our booking. The owner came to speak with us and indicated that they do NOT WORK WITH EXPEDIA for bookings and had no record of a reservation. We reached out to Expedia via chat and they said they could not refund our full stay because the date of the first night of the stay was less than 24 hours away.
We spent 2 full hours talking with Expedia and trying to get them to call the owner (as he stood next to us) - the phone rang, but when the owner answered, we were unable to hear anyone on the line.
The owner offered us a room in another property that he owns for a much lower rate than Expedia charged and when we arrived at that room we understood why - there was an active leak from the ceiling, no toilet seat, and plywood nailed to the ceiling, with gaps big enough to let sunlight in.
The experience was a horrible way to start our vacation and now that our vacation is over, we are continuing to have to fight with Expedia to obtain a REFUND.
