Good choice in the region

The room is spacious and clean, and located just few minutes away from the Fox Glacier Heli Hike assembly point. I was arriving late and the reception was closed, however the staff has made good arrangement in advance and I can basically get into my room without much difficulties after a long day drive.

Could be such a beautiful place but a bit run down. Great views of glacier. Needs TLC, small things like TV not working and by looking at previous reviews seems to have been not working for 2 months, no coffee in room, gardens and exterior looks unkept, broken chair in room. Still however, ok for a 1 night stopover with nothing else available.

This place gives a terrible impression from the road - grass and weeds 30-40cm high. Almost enough to make us go elsewhere. However, the young lady on reception was very welcoming and helpful - taking our bags in for us. The room was quite a surprise - very spacious, very clean and couldn’t fault it. The TV didn’t work and reading other reviews this seems to be a long running situation. The owners need to invest a bit of time and effort into the presentation of this place and it would be a wonderful place to stay.

Felt derelict, arrived to the car park with lots of weeds. Checked in and quite simply given a room key (no introduction). Walls not soundproof at all, could hear banging doors lots! No privacy in the room - curtains had to be closed as no netting to pull across. Mould in the bathroom and dirty crockery in the room (only 1 glass). Only soup spoons - no normal spoons! Would avoid at all costs and won’t be returning!

Room is clean and spacious, including working kitchen with everything needed to prepare meals, and a big bathroom. Friendly staff. Worth mentioning that the motel is located between the highway and a train line, which can be noisy at times.

In need of some TLC

Arrived at 5pm to a note for check-in and never saw any staff at all. The room was basic but tired and in need of updating. There was a musty smell overpowered by a sweet perfume smell. Bedding and towels clean. Good hot shower. Two cups but only one drinking glass and no teaspoons. ‘Fridge noisy and had to turn off. Could hear shower in neighbouring room. No bedside lights meant getting out of bed to put light on/off. The light outside of bedroom window was bright and on all night. Quiet overnight. Overall if you want a cheap bed for the night it’s ok but don’t expect much.
