I must confess, when I was looking for lodging in Midtown (and didn’t want to spend a ton to just stay overnight), I was a little leery about reserving a room at Downtowner Inn. How wrong I was! Again, it’s not Hotel Zaza or even Hampton Inn… so getting expectations in line is important. But for the price, a traveler gets more than their money’s worth. No frills, certainly. Sparse amenities. But the room was clean, spacious, and sufficient. The towels and pillows were not excellent quality… but they dried my body and held my head up perfectly fine. The microwave and fridge were newish and both worked great. A great find!

There was hair behind the bathroom door and mould on the ceiling. Bed was so hard. Posting said soundproofed room but our one was not, you could hear all the road noise. We booked for two nights and then they rang after night one to see if we were checking out.

The receptionist was polite and professional. Room was clean, comfortable and updated. Being right off the highway made it convenient to get around Houston and it wasn’t too loud from inside the room. Perfect for a quick two night stay!

The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows felt like they were stuffed with socks. There was no water option in the vending machine. The "breakfast" consisted of only 4 items: cereal, oatmeal, coffee, and milk. The only reason i gave this place 2 stars is because the AC worked. I would not stay here again.
