We had a wonderful time staying at Drakesbad! 3 meals a day included prepared by chef Sal. Ike the manager was very helpful and gave us a ton of history on the property and area. We had never stayed anywhere like it. Tons of board games and outside games, horseshoes, cornhoke, ping pong. Very remote so beautiful stars at night and nightly campfires for everyone to enjoy. So glad they were able to reopen!

It’s a great experience. You pay for the history and being off the grid. The food was very good . The staff was helpful and the meals were filling & tasty . It’s not right outside the park but there is lassen national park trails from the area. No pool yet . But this is the first full year they’ve opened since fires . Beds could use upgrade . It’s about the experience.. WiFi is there in lodge Lawrence was so helpful and the staff was super nice . You’re remote about 20-30 mins from Chester and 1.5 hrs from south park entrance. We came through north side from Oregon and drove to ranch. Then south side and out north . The experience was cool. Lassen was number 25 on our national park journey . The food was great they packed us a lunch after breakfast for our day. If you want comfy beds plug ins not for you. If you can bare it lights out at 10 and not have to have hair stuff to get ready (my wife) then it was good. We stay in a lot of places This is not a Hilton so If you need all the perks not for you it’s an experience you are paying for and we liked it ..

The facilities leave a lot to be desired. But for some that is the charm of the place. Ntl if could be kept cleaner and better maintained. I realize that they have been closed a couple of years due to fires and they are going through a hard time getting staff trained. Having said that the people who work there try very hard to make your stay as good as they can. And the scenery and trails are wonderful. My first impression upon arrival was one of disappointment but my wife and I left with a warm feeling for Drakesbad.

This place is a gem, there isn't much more to ask for in the middle of a national Forest. Staff was so helpful and even kept dinner for us every night knowing we would come late from evening hikes. All food and beverages are already included in the nightly price which was so convenient given the location of the ranch. We had clear sky and saw the Milky Way from the porch. There is no electricity or cell phone reception in the cabins, you will have to go to the dining or reception area to charge devices. Adults didn't mind it and kids got used to it !!

Loved my stay at Drakesbad, they staff was pleasant, the property was beautiful and calm, and their food was great. Dining staff in the evening was amazing, the girls were so attentive and supportive to answering any questions. I loved the horses, and the hikes that were on-site. They were truly magical. I also loved how quiet and peaceful the property was. Getting it there is a gravel road for 3 miles, I would say be careful because there were a few pot holes (hopefully that can be repaired). I made sure to get back before sun-down so I could see them. My only issue was that I ordered a lunch sandwich to be picked up after breakfast because I was going to go hiking. The girl who took my order at dinner the previous evening said it would be ready at 7:30 AM. So the next morning I went to breakfast and after I was done eating around 8 AM I asked for my lunch to go. The sandwich wasn't done until 8:30 AM. Staff (I think different than the evening staff) kept saying that they were making it, however it shouldn't take 30 minutes to make a turkey sandwich. I think if you are going to pack lunches for guests, especially because many are going to hike and it take a good few miles to get off property to Lassen, it's best to have a system that caters to people who want to set out early for a hike. They were apologetic, however I was set back an hour from my hike. Overall, loved my visit, the community of people, and such a beautiful place I'd visit again and plan to stay & visit.

Everyone who worked there was so pleasant, friendly and ready help. The staff was the best. It is also a lovely location. I loved the quiet beauty.
