Very friendly staff, clean room and bathroom, clean facilities….BUT
The carpark (the one behind where you are supposed to park) is PITCH BLACK. You can hardly see the palm of your hands. This is a massive safety issue.
The air conditioner in the room had to be operated at max fan and lowest temp just to produce something, had some musky smell in the air coming out of it, and was whirring and whining all the time, made it difficult to fall asleep.
The bathroom is spacious, clean and well equipped and water pressure is surprisingly very strong I had to lower it (most hotels have average if not weak water pressures, so that was good), there were some cracked tiles in the bathroom, and the ventilation fan didn’t work with no switch to turn it on (and not connected to the bathroom light), so doing your “business” in the bathroom meant having a smelly room for a while.
And, who puts a bible in hotel rooms anymore? This is not 1965.
Good budget hotel for a short stay but definitely would not go back, and I have stayed in other Mercure branches in Australia (which made me go ahead with this booking) but the difference is chalk and cheese honestly, despite the rates being very close/similar.
