This property was not maintained well and is in disrepair. Whilst staff were friendly they appear to be left to their own devices with the owner absent. The electricity went off in our room for no good reason other than failure by staff to ensure supply was paid for. There was no-one onsite to rectify the issue so we suffered through a night without air-conditioning or lights in 30 degrees heat. A request for some kind of remittance has been ignored. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY.

Not happy.

Not as the photos portray. Lagoon chalets are very old and in need of renovation. Apartment block not up to advertised standard. Lagoon not readily accessable for swimming. No kitchens in rooms. No daily housekeeping. Meals were cokd and dry. Overall would not recommend.

The service was really slow. The person taking the orders behind the bar/restaurant was busy on her phone. Daily cleaninf is non existent you have to ask for a clean and will cost you extra. Very basic

For what you pay this property is bare bones. Cold showers and uncomfortable beds.

Disappointing value for the money

We chose to stay in Lusia's because of the convenient location just next to the ferry. The infrastructure is old and generally in bad condition. The staff is not helpful at all, e.g. it was the only situation in Samoa, that I was asked to pay extra for very basic services like calling a taxi or contacting a rental company. The included breakfast was very basic and not tasty at all, we heard from other guests that other food is overpriced and not good, so we decided to eat somewhere else. To sum up, I won't stay in Lusia's Chalets again. If I were in Savaii again, I would probably take a taxi and stay in Fales further from the ferry from the very beginning.

The water wasn't working well in the bathrooms and I thought I booked for a room in the two-storey building but sadly my brother told me they got a different room in the garden area.

Thought the property was run-down and expensive for what we paid for. Friendly helpful staff and the deck area around the lagoon was nice.

The staff were quite unfriendly upon arrival and throughout our stay. They seemed very insincere. The facilities were run down and inconsistent with availability. The canoe we used had a decent leak and took on an alarming amount of water. We provided this feedback to the staff, they couldn’t have cared less. The meals were very expensive and poor quality. The mosquito net was had many large holes. The jetty was great for jumping off and swimming around. Had a lovely view and was a quirky place.

2/10 Poor

There was mold everywhere. Growing on the walls, lamp shades and even mirrors which has caused ill breathing/coughing for both me and my 5 year old daughter. The mold is being painted over with white paint which is disgusting. Also, every time we have returned to the hotel room, there was a huge cockroach or lizard waiting for us in the bathroom. The last night I woke up at 3am to find an earwig on my daughters pillow about to be on her face. Other than the hotel room, the view coming outside was always a way to look at the beauty outside of sleeping inside the room.

Mold painted over everywhere making us very ill with breathing it in. Huuuge cockroach or lizard waiting for us in the bathroom every night.

The lagoon was beautiful! The room would’ve been charming, except they did a lot to hide the underlying issues that were evident. There was black mold everywhere and it caused those of us staying to have allergic reactions. They had painted over the lamp shaped to try to hide the mold on them but once you turned on the light you could see the mold plainly through the paint. There was also mold coming through the walls and by the air conditioning. We could’ve stayed another night but left due to the conditions to stay with family on the island and al of our allergies cleared up once we weren’t in the room anymore.

We booked a room online that they are no longer using. We would never have booked there had we known, it would've been nice to be notified before hand. Also they still have this room advertised?!

very comfort and kind hostess. The only thing concerned about is the walk rail right outside the cottage, it was slippery and husband slipped on it and hurt his angle. It needs repair on the walkway rail with some rubber mats to make it safe for patrons especially when it rains. Other than that it was nice.

It couldn’t be worser. No ventilator. Dirty beth. No breakfast at 7.30. Dust from above.
Vanida, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Don’t do it.

The staff were nice. But the accommodation... horrendous. Nothing like the pictures, we were in a shed on stilts, no windows so when it was windy and raining at night we didn’t sleep because of the tarp they used to cover the window smacking on the tin can frame of the “chalet”. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on! I think the reviews and the overall rating this has is false. They must have friends and family rating it.
R, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

Terrible. Traveler be aware.

Absolutely horrendous, we checked in and quickly realized that this hotel has done a good job manipulating how it looks in terms of the photos they have. The property was full of trash, the wood on our veranda/balcony deck was in such bad condition that a piece broke as we stepped on it. We walked around the property a bit more and decided that we couldn't stay. We tried to talk to Hotels.com about a refund but to no avail. We booked another hotel and still had to pay for this one. Just terrible.

Picturesque fale overlooking lagoon

Beautiful setting, lovely people, good food. Mosquito galore so bug repellent is a must.

Located close to ferry on Savaii

The buildings we were in did not resemble those in the photo at all. We booked a more expensive room by the water but got a ground level room in a concrete block set back. Disappointing. The good points were hot water for showers and friendly staff.

Cool experience, but big insect problem

Lusias Lagoon Chalets offers a cool lagoon/jungle accomodation experience. We stayed in the lagoon chalets, which are very basic, but do offer a cool over the water experience. The upsides were the lagoon for swimming, snorkelling and kayaking, good, affordable food and a nice view in our chalet. The downside was the room and comfort. I had no problem with the room being basic (light, one power socket), but i feel a little more could be invested to get the room up to scratch, such as a broom to sweep out sand from the path, new mosqito nets to replace the holes in ours, and insect screens on windows (the windows had chicken wire and large gaps). Another suggestion would be a plug in repellent for insects. Our stay was very uncomfortable. The room was very warm without any fan or air-conditioning. The mosquito nets had many holes, which we tried patching with bandaids. Over our two night stay, i received over 70 insect bites on one arm alone, and more elsewhere on my body. This was with us covering ourselves with insect repellent before bed and having a citronella coil burning in the corner of our room. Shared bathrooms had faulty doors and could be seen from the restaurant. Id recommend staying here for the experience, but opt for the more comfortable options with insect screens and air-conditioning. Dont go for the lagoon chalets if you have a problem with insects or warm sleeping.

Lovely and quiet place near the Lagoon.

Was very pleasantly surprised with the accomodation we stayed in at Lusia's, passed expectations. Staff were very welcoming and accomodating. Kids thoroughly enjoyed the swimming & kayaking facilities. Would highly recommend to families looking for a quiet but fun filled place to stay. The only negative I would say is probably prices of meals versus quality. Very nice but would cost alot for family of 4 to eat there everyday. Although shops are within walking distance, it can be very long in the heat so perhaps stock up on some items before arriving. Other then that, we had a lovely time & highly recommend to travellers looking for a quiet & relaxing place to stay
