deceitful and poor customer service - for 2 reasons.
1) receptionist did not inform me that breakfast was at an extra charge when i checked in - i am on camino and many places are offering breakfast so i went assuming the same. it even said the breakfast hours on the room key card so i just assumed it was included. if there is a charge then reception should be informing us, i am happy to pay for things when i have neen adequately warned of the cost beforehand. i cannot eat meat/dairy/eggs, so i couldnt even eat much there apart from bread - if id known it cost money i obviously would not have had the breakfast as i couldnt eat most of it. if id have been able to eat the food, this hidden charge would have bothered me less. i tried to explain nicely at checkout when they tried to charge me as i was shocked, but they kept arguing so i paid to avoid confrontation. i did think if they understood the error/misunderstanding they may have waived the fee, but very disappointing and unkind customer service over something that was the hotel's fault in which they did not inform me a) that there was a charge and b) how much it was.
2. they also do not inform you that you cannot use the pool without a swim cap until you arrive to the hotel, and then charge you to buy one. they should inform guests before coming so we can bring ours from home. feels like a deceitful way to make money. they also charge for towel hire but dont allow you to use the room towel, another money-making scheme.
