Was looking for an affordable hotel for one night. For the money, I paid, it exceeded my expectations. The place is an old motor inn. It’s had minimal updates, but it is very clean. It’s a 3-star accommodation so you don’t get all the fluff. However you do get clean, safe, quiet rooms with comfortable beds. I rated it excellent because it exceeded my expectations at the price point I was willing to pay. Also the staff is nice.

Would not stay again

This is a nice location but it is about the only good thing about it. Bathroom is small and no space for toiletries, the sink was leaning so you could not even put a toothbrush as it would roll down. Shower would get extremely hot or very cold, shower head leaked. Room was not cleaned well prior to our checkin as I found dried up french fries on the floor. If you don't smoke or have children, this is not the place for you as people are allowed to smoke on the balcony. There is also no sound proofing of any kind, you can hear screaming partiers in the middle of the night or some crazy band performance singing at 5:30 am. The room needs updating, old dresser, walls, chipping tile in the bathroom, everything shows sign of wear. No coffee machine in the room, one in the office but on off season it doesn't open till 9 am. Beds were not comfortable for me.

We chose the Rideau because of its location, as my husband has mobility issues. They were able to provide us with a wheelchair for his use for the duration of our stay at no charge. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. The only downfall was while housekeeping provided us with new towels everyday our bed was never made after check in. I’m sure this was just an oversight as they were great in every other aspect. We will definitely stay here again in the future!
