I'm a 42-year old male that travels solo for business. I typically don't review a hotel unless it's very good or pretty bad.
And I don't feel a hotel is "bad" if I wouldn't let my wife or daughters stay there.
In this case, I applaud Wyndham for painting lipstick on this pig, but I can't recommend this hotel.
It is an old hotel, as anyone who is familiar with Gatlinburg knows. The photos make the hotel look much more renovated than it actually is. Overall, the location and easy parking is still great, but they didn't do enough for me to consider staying here again.
The issue is that, beyond the new paint and furnishings, it's old, dirty, and not well-maintained.
They'll get another decade out of this place, or longer, I'm sure, but it'll be a better day in Gatlinburg when it's finally torn down and replaced.
If you need a cheap place and really want to be on the main strip in Gatlinburg and don't mind a janky stay, go for it. But as I said before, I wouldn't bring my family here.
