First time at a Ryokan. Wonderful experience from when we first arrived until we left. Room was beautiful and private onsen was luxurious, we spent a lot of time there! 100% get the Breakfast and dinner package, it was such a unique experience with lovely traditional meals and it was very large portion for 2 people. They also provided a lot of free amenities that we could take home with us including photographs and a traditional pouch/bag. i would definitely recommend this Ryokan to anyone planning to visit Nara.

Hotel New Wakasa lifts the fame of Japanese hospitality to another level. I have never been so welcomed by a hotel where their offering and servicing is so customer oriented, leaving a very impressive memory from start til checking out The quality on the catering side was slightly below par but was justified by the price they charged. Many people say do Nara as a day trip but we disagree. Nara is a wonderful town full of artisans and cutting edge design and a slower pace of life. The Hotel New Wakasa reflects that spirit and is a top notch Japanese hotel with exceptional service, gorgeous rooms and a wonderful public bath. We can’t say enough about our time there and what wonderful time we had there. Thank you!

Would be better if the newly renovated rooms has modern bed instead of Tatami as it is difficult to get up when the bed is on the floor.

Almost luxury ryokan but with a warm touch

It seems like a smaller business. The staff were very polite and helpful. We had a standard room with japanese style breakfast and dinner. Both were good experiencies. Also reserved the private bath which was nice with a good view. Room was newly renovated and cozy. Daily activities in Nara combined with the hotel was one of our best days in Japan. Would highly recommend
