The room was nice and cosy with a comfortable bed and everything you could need. The look of the hotel was very nice inside and out and was a lovely quiet stay. The other great thing we found ho easy it was to walk down the corridor of the motel to the Cove Cafe which was very nice also.

Highlight was geothermal spa bath next to your room with view. Downside the smell i guess from the old Carpet needs thorough clean and shampooing, otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Nice stay, the room was comfortable but lacked some privacy for the spa pool being quite visible. The kitchen sink was also very small making washing dishes difficult. For a short stay it was fine

We stayed for 3 nights. The room was a great size and well appointed with all you need for a few nights. It was clean but dated. Bathroom could use an upgrade and more attention to detail in the clean. Bed was comfortable. Spa on balcony was great (hot on night 1 but cooler on other nights). We stayed on first floor and there’s no lift so had to lug our bags up and down the stairs so people considering booking will need to keep that in mind. Parking was easy too.

*The Cove Taupo — 5/5* Stayed here recently and it was exactly what we needed for a getaway. *The room: Clean, a little outdated but comfortable no view as the room was on the opposite side, Lake Taupo is the real deal. Big windows, comfy bed, and everything worked exactly as it should. *Location*: Perfect spot if you want quiet but still close to town. 5 min drive to the lakefront and cafes. Easy parking right outside which made unloading a breeze. *Staff & service*: Super friendly and low fuss. Check-in was quick and they gave solid local tips for food and walks without being pushy. *The little things*: Fast wifi, decent coffee setup in the room, and there is an outdoor area that was great for a sunset drink. Place felt well maintained, not tired like some lake motels. Only heads up: it’s popular, so book ahead if you want a lake-facing room in summer. Overall, great value, great spot, would stay again. If you’re heading to Taupo and want somewhere relaxed with a view, this is it.
