Dirty, hot, loud & expensive. Good staff, though.

We arrived at 9pm & there was a party at the pool--screaming children, people barbecuing, etc. Of course we were given a room directly above the pool, & when we opened the door, there was a large three wick candle burning on the table that was emitting a noxious scent. Since the windows don't open, the entire room was filled with this sickening odor, & we were creeped out because we were sure it was covering some worse odor (& because there was an open flame in a hotel room & we weren't sure if the room was already occupied), so we went & asked to have our room changed. We requested a room on the back of the hotel (due to the intense freeway noise & the pool party) which was considerably more quiet, & when we entered the room it appeared to be OK, save for the fact that it was probably 90° in the room. Now mind you this is on the central coast where it's only about 60° outside, so that was odd. We turned on the air conditioner & it worked for 2 minutes before it shut itself off. We subsequently turned it on 3 more times & after 2 minutes each time, it shut itself off. We called a maintenance person who verified that it in fact was shutting itself off, & while we were waiting we noticed that there were both food & a candy wrapper in plain sight on the floor, so we again moved to our now 3rd room. Though the sheets were clean, the room smelled like weed & all the surfaces were covered with a thin film of Highway dust/residue that turned our cleaning tissue black.

NEVER AGAIN!

I wrote ahead and also spoke with the front desk for a quiet section, which was the back of the motel. Upon arrival I was told that there were no rooms available in the back. In addition to the freeway noise in the front, the walls are paper thin and one night my wife and I could hear a couple having loud sex for hours, including hollering from whipping her behind. The room was designed with the bed pushed up against the a/c so if you had to get up at night, it was difficult to climb out. They advertise free coffee, and it was my mistake thinking there was a coffee maker in the room. Free coffee was in the lobby every morning from 6-10 am. It is a convenient location and a cheap price; a good deal if you don't mind people partying outside your door.

Accessible bath was requested but not honored.

We had requested a bathroom with grab bars and a first floor room. The first floor room was honored but no grab bars in the bathroom. My husband needed help in the bathroom and could not use the one in the room assigned.

Keep up with maintenance.

The air conditioner did not work. The room felt hot a musky. The toilet kept getting clogged. I wouldn't recommend anyone go there.

Good stay for the price

I didn't know what to expect when booking Motel 6, but it ended up being fine. It looks like the rooms were renovated or at least updated. i'm used to hear some people yelling outside in the middle of the night, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. We still slept a good night and it was comfortable for what it was.

Ok, so it's a Motel 6. It is a basic bare bones motel, however the bed was very comfortable, and I was very happy there was no carpet, the room was clean as well as the bathroom. All of the staff were very nice and accommodating. This location was perfect for what we needed. Overall it was a nice stay.
