We are budget travelers who have stayed at many Motel 6's and this was a very negative experience for us. The main light would not turn off. We called and then stopped by the front desk and they gave us a towel to put over the light. They did offer a new room around midnight, but our kids had fallen asleep. We told the them the next day and they said that we just didn't turn it off - there was no switch. When we returned, our door was left open and the bulb was removed by them, so then we had no light and our door had been left open all day.
The room was dirty - hair in the tub, sink, towels and beds, mold on the shower curtain. People walked around the parking lot all hours of the night, drinking next to our car and dog going to the bathroom behind it. I couldn't physically open or close our hotel door because of how jammed it was. The entire floor was slippery and sticky. We tried to cancel our second night and hotels.com was very helpful and responsive, but the property would not allow us to cancel. I understand companies have to have their policies but if they are not offering what they advertise such as cleanliness, basic accommodation and safety, that seems to be a breach of what we signed up for. There was no one at the front desk when we were checking out to speak to more about our concerns.
