Eu estava preocupado com esse hotel por causa de algumas avaliações negativas que eu havia lido, mas me surpreendi muito positivamente. O hotel é antigo, mas muito bonito, limpo, agradável e bem localizado. Todos os funcionários foram extremamente gentis. O café da manhã é ótimo, e em um pátio muito agradável. O jardim é muito bonito e bem cuidado. Os quartos são antigos, mas amplos, limpos e com camas muito confortáveis. O único ponto negativo foi o ar condicionado do quarto, que parecia estar só ventilando. Mas fora isso, nossa estadia foi perfeita.

Udsigten kan der ikke klages over. Værelset vi fik lå helt op til nabo hotellet og vi fik derfor en del støj fra deres pool/aircon anlæg som står lige i gavlen på deres bygning. Værelset bar præg af slid og trænger til en opdatering, fugt skjolder på tapet og en hår tørrer fra 80’erne Personalet er venligt og sjovt at manden med ørnen kom hver morgen og holdt duerne væk. Morgen buffet er ok dog uden nogen variation

A wonderful surprise this hotel turned out to be. Loved the old world feel of the reception area in the main hotel and the pool & sea view are exceptional. The staff was so knowledgeable and took time to show us about. We had dinner included but were not able to make it so, lunch was provided for us. The breakfast buffet is the best I have seen in Portugal with eggs made to order, warm breads and wonderful fruit salad to mention a few items. Overall, I would come back just to relax by the pool. Downtown Funchal is easily walk able as is the waterfront. The hotel can be very proud of their staff and their genuine concern for the stay of the tourist.

For a 4 star hotel i would say that the quality of room furnishing was below par and the bathroom definitely needed a refurb. However the location , with a great sea side saltwater pool, and only 15-20 minute easy walk to Funchal old town, was excellent and made the hotel excellent value for money, overall, at the price. Also great breakfast with full range of choices and lovely staff. A good mid-range choice and we would probably choose it for a future visit.

Hotel Quinta da Penha de França was a quiet and quaint hotel. It was walkable to the main square with many restaurants nearby to choose from. The breakfast options were the best that we experienced in our 24 day trip in Portugal.

Das Zimmer auf Poolseite, Toilette, Dusche, Terrassentür, Kopfkissen, alles altes mäßig funktionierendes Material aus den 70ern. Tricks, wie es besser geht, mussten wir selbst rausfinden. Nach mehrmaliger Bitte, umziehen zu können, bot man uns dunklere, feuchte, noch ältere Zimmer,41, im Haupthaus, oder ne Dachkammer an. Grüße vom Flughafen.

Sijainti hyvä kaupungin ja hotellialueen puolivälissä. Nyt helmikuussa 2025 hissi oli remontissa josta syystä joutui kiipeämään ylempään (vanhempaan) hotelliin ja ylemmille kaduille. Uudempi de Mar hotelli on ihan rannassa eli ei mäkeä keskustan suuntaan. Lähistöllä hyviä ravintoloita ja baareja. Uima-allas on lämmittämätön merivesiallas joka oli helmikuussa n 18 asteinen. Tais respassa oli ihan huippu ja ansaitsee palkankorotuksen.

I liked the old fashioned quirkiness of this hotel, and the pretty gardens. Seems to cater to older Europeans who are repeat guests- as a solo, first-time guest the vibe, for me, was a little like being at a members-only club where I wasn’t a member. Some of the staff were nice- but one older restaurant staff member berated me when I asked for a fork for my take-away (there was nothing on the menu that appealed to me that evening). And the gentleman at the front desk (when I checked out at 5am for an early flight) was just plain surly. Overall it is a nice hotel, though, and breakfast was good.

This hotel was in a great position to walk into Funchal old town either along the promenade or down the many side streets. There is also a lovely park nearby with cafes. We got the Aerobus from the airport which drops you off within a 2 min walk (stop number 10) 6 euros. The breakfast every morning was amazing, continental,full english,cereals,fruit,pastries even smoked salmon on some days. There are 2 available swimming pools. One is a short walk over a bridge and down by the sea. The smaller one is in the garden which we used every day. All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and tidy and very quiet.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. It was only a 10 minute walk to the marina. We found the breakfast to be especially delicious with plenty of choices. The coffee was fabulous . Staff are very attentive, friendly, and helpful.
