Location is excellent , close to many restaurants and some sights . but place is very old and the room very small , fine for a single traveler , but not a couple . Reminded me of the place I stayed at 50 years ago !!

Great price and get what you pay for

The Tonic Hotel was in the heart of St Gemain de pres. We had a delayed check in as there was working being carried out at the time of check in, but there is a great little ice cream parlour on the corner and we sat for 30 mins eating ice cream! The hotel itself was clean and bit dated but rustic in appearance. The room was interesting with the shower and toilet right in the room very boutique looking, would be fine for a couple but not brilliant for me and my teenage daughter, but we made it work. I'm sure room service was available but there was no menu to hand and we ate out for a 3 day stay. Overall you get what you pay for and for the price this was fine for what we needed.

Great area. Breakfast options were good but you can also go to any local restaurant within a few min. 5 min from metro

8/10 Very good

My daughter and I stayed at the Tonic Hotel during our visit and found it to be a good, budget-friendly option. While the hotel is older and could definitely use some updates—especially the decor and room layout—it was clean and comfortable for a short stay. The room had a quirky setup, with the bain douche (shower/bath combo) oddly placed at the end of the bed, which might not suit everyone, but everything worked fine and was well-maintained. We felt very safe, thanks in large part to the wonderful 24-hour door person, who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well looked after. As two women traveling together, that added peace of mind made a big difference. The location is excellent—just a short, easy walk to the metro. There are tons of restaurants and cafés nearby, including a Starbucks for North Americans wanting a familiar option. There’s also lots of shopping just down the block, although we didn’t explore it this time. All in all, this hotel was a solid choice for a mother-daughter trip focused on convenience, safety, and walkability rather than luxury.

This is a great hotel in a great location. I have been staying at the hotel for 4 years now. Used to be perfect. Unfortunately management is going cheap on the maintenance and I mean super cheap. Their repair person is making an awful job. Any decent homeowner would do a better job

2/10 Poor

If you wish to ruin your Paris vacation, stay in this hotel. The only good think about the property is its location (close to most monuments). Drawbacks: 1. Dirty, stained carpets everywhere. 2. Sink at the other side of bathroom (to wash hands after visiting bathroom one has to navigate around the bed - not an easy task). 3. The "shower" is a large basin in the corner with a curtain that drops from the ceiling - in full view of the entire room. 4. Fire trap - in case of fire there is no way to get out of rooms in floors 2,3 and 4. 5. Unfriendly and unhelpful (almost hostile) staff. 6. The elevator stops only in mid level of all floors. To go to floor 4, you press the number 3/4 and it stops in the middle of 3 and 4, from where you have to climb up or down in a tiny and unsafe staircase. Expedia should drop this property, it is only a dump. For the money we paid, we could have stayed in a good 4-star hotel nearby...

Dont stay here

Dont stay here - rooms not clean, we found dirty socks from previous guests undee the bed. Horrible service - one day the receptionist had locked the door one morning, so we could not get out of the hotel - he was taking a shower in obe if the rooms, and we waited 15 minutes for him to finish his shower and let us out - ridiculous

The room was very tiny, but beautiful in design. The bed was comfortable and did the trick for sleep. The hotel doesn't have AC though. The location was amazing within minutes of the Metro and little shops. The pub across the street was fantastic to wind down at after a long day and the convenience store next to the hotel was great. The wifi didn't work in the room at all on 3 separate devices, 2 cell phones and a laptop. Despite bringing it to the attention of the front staff, the staff didn't try to fix it despite saying they would. We had to ask for towels and toilet paper 3xs on one occasion, to which it took the next staff on shift to get for us. The safes in the room were locked and they didn't unlock them for our use.

Madelaine, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Terrible place to stay.

Do NOT stay here. The building and room was old and very worn. The furniture and bed in the room was worn out and dirty. The room was TINY with nowhere to put a suitcase. The shower and toilet was actually inside the room, with no extraction fan or barrier to remove toilet smells from the room. Our room was facing the street and there is a Nightclub directly opposite the hotel, which pumped loud music until around 2am on Saturday night. The room was not at all soundproof.
