Property was cute - a redone motel with a hipster style and vibe. Good breakfast offering and easy drive to Smith’s campus and downtown (but not walkable IMO). Bed was comfortable and all was clean. Main complaint was you could hear the upstairs room and people outside the door. Very little soundproofing. Would recommend a second floor room if at all possible for this reason. All in all a fine option, depending on your reason for visiting.

Excellent stay at the Ellery. Quaint inn with lots of Northampton charm. Room was very clean, bathroom was spotless with a great shower, and the included breakfast was very nice with lots of options and great coffee. Highly recommended!

Positives: the room was clean, nicely decorated, loved having the fridge in the room. Very cute place with a cool vibe and breakfast was good..the coffee was good! The note on the bed welcoming us was sweet .. Negatives: the young man that checked us in said what seemed like a script and talked really fast so we had to ask him questions to understand what he said ...the floors in the hallway were creaky so we were woken up early with people walking by our room ..maybe a carpet in the hallway may be helpful for noise absorption... my husband got up at 8 am and took a shower and had hot water ..I waited until 10am to shower and didn't have any hot water so I couldn't shower ...no one was at the desk when we checked out for me to tell but I told someone in the breakfast ..she didn't seem to care she said "I'll tell them" overall nice hotel but was disappointed with the lack of hot water and that we were not able to check in early

The room was cold and drafty - the door needs weather-stripping. The heater blows cold as well as hot with the heat on. The photos of the lounge show a lovely fire but we didn't know that the staff will only light a fire in the mornings (safety issue with embers not being cold by the time staff leaves for the evening at 8). Fair enough although misleading - everyone sitting in the lounge was disappointed not to have a fire in the afternoon. We were told at 4 we could not have a fire. It was below zero outside windchill and the room was chilly - could the staff instead have brought in a space heater or two? Not the visit we had hoped.

Room was spotless and comfortable.Reception desk personnel explained hotel policy and procedure for re-entering the hotel after a certain time. The lounge area was comfortable for sitting and enjoying the Continental breakfast. Stayed only the one night but the Ellery would be our choice for any future stays.
