The Ellery has been our first choice when visiting our daughter at Smith. It’s convenient to downtown and on every visit has been well maintained. It has the consistency of a chain hotel but with the personal touches of a boutique hotel.

Such a sweet spot, so glad we were able to get a reservation. Wish we'd been hungrier and didn't have breakfast plans , but we did check out the offerings and they were lovely. And the community space was perfect as well, and the opportunity to grab a coffee, tea, cookie, yogurt etc at any hour was appreciated! Thanks for a memorable stay. We'll be back for sure.

We enjoyed our stay. Thanks for letting us know about the things we left behind and for shipping them! Thanks for welcoming our dog Luciano❤️ Our thoughts on what should be improved: 1.Better bath mats. We found it on the second day of our 2 night stay. At first I didn't realize what it was. Small and odd but it worked. A mat for outside the bath is needed as well. 2. A shelf near the outlet in bathroom over the toilet. Putting things on the toilet is dicey. 3. The guest upstairs was walking around during the wee hours and it sounded like an army marching thru. Padding under the area rugs would help. 4. Spare blanket in the room is essential for unexpected chill. 5. Something to highlight where the electric plugs are in the desk. I only saw them the morning we were leaving. POSITIVE ASPECTS: Great staff- friendly, helpful, efficient Nice room size Plenty of towels Good wi-fi & electrical outlets Good AC, Great breakfast supplies and space for eating, generally a very pleasant experience!

The mini-split seemed to have an inaccurate thermostat; the room was definitely warmer than the 64 we set it at. Also, we were disappointed that the breakfast has apparently been cut back; we went elsewhere for breakfast. The pillows were too large and firm; it would be nice to have a choice of a softer pillow. Finally, we liked the large room (C1) but didn’t like the heavy footfalls overhead from C2. Overall, excellent value. Quiet, comfortable, and affordable.

A very nice inn. Did not realize it is actually a motel (first floor doors open to parking lot), but it was not a problem at all. Rooms were clean and well furnished. The breakfast was very good. And the rates were appropriate. I did not bring my dog this time, but I was happy to see they are pet friendly.

Property was cute - a redone motel with a hipster style and vibe. Good breakfast offering and easy drive to Smith’s campus and downtown (but not walkable IMO). Bed was comfortable and all was clean. Main complaint was you could hear the upstairs room and people outside the door. Very little soundproofing. Would recommend a second floor room if at all possible for this reason. All in all a fine option, depending on your reason for visiting.

Excellent stay at the Ellery. Quaint inn with lots of Northampton charm. Room was very clean, bathroom was spotless with a great shower, and the included breakfast was very nice with lots of options and great coffee. Highly recommended!

Positives: the room was clean, nicely decorated, loved having the fridge in the room. Very cute place with a cool vibe and breakfast was good..the coffee was good! The note on the bed welcoming us was sweet .. Negatives: the young man that checked us in said what seemed like a script and talked really fast so we had to ask him questions to understand what he said ...the floors in the hallway were creaky so we were woken up early with people walking by our room ..maybe a carpet in the hallway may be helpful for noise absorption... my husband got up at 8 am and took a shower and had hot water ..I waited until 10am to shower and didn't have any hot water so I couldn't shower ...no one was at the desk when we checked out for me to tell but I told someone in the breakfast ..she didn't seem to care she said "I'll tell them" overall nice hotel but was disappointed with the lack of hot water and that we were not able to check in early

The room was cold and drafty - the door needs weather-stripping. The heater blows cold as well as hot with the heat on. The photos of the lounge show a lovely fire but we didn't know that the staff will only light a fire in the mornings (safety issue with embers not being cold by the time staff leaves for the evening at 8). Fair enough although misleading - everyone sitting in the lounge was disappointed not to have a fire in the afternoon. We were told at 4 we could not have a fire. It was below zero outside windchill and the room was chilly - could the staff instead have brought in a space heater or two? Not the visit we had hoped.
