Great and live music is fantastic!

Great place to stay. Room is very comfortable and everyone is so nice. The live music at night is terrific. They played mostly 60's, 70's, 80's and occasionally some newer. The food is very good.

Location wins

The location on the Akumal beach is fantastic and worth going for. The room - a penthouse - was lovely with amazing views and a private outdoor jacuzzi to watch the the local birds from. This is a big hotel with many guests meaning that some of the charm of the location fades when you move around the hotel facilities. Lots of food options, some very nice, some more moderate. The fine dining options vary in quality, mainly because the authenticity lack despite the effort and mouthwatering menus. We enjoyed the Mexican and the European restaurant the most. The grand buffet also had fine moments with freshly grilled gambas and lovely fruits for breakfast. The sushi bar by the pool was a disappointment. No taste in sushi rolls containing too much rice and too little fish. And what does cream cheese do in a sushiroll? I think management should ask themselves why they have a no reservation policy for sunbeds that is posted everywhere when they clearly don’t remove towels that some guests put out before sunrise? That leaves the hotel’s guests with the worst manners to set the rules and downgrades the whole experience, when you wander amongst the empty beds looking to find one that is not reserved.

Fantastic - can't wait to go back!

I will be recommending Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness resort to anyone and everyone traveling to the Riviera Maya from now on. From the beautifully maintained rooms and grounds, cleanliness and attention to guests' comfort, and incredible staff, to the amazing snorkeling right from the beach (that looks like it's out of a postcard!), every moment of this trip was incredibly relaxing and beautiful. Tons of food options, live music each night, a dive shop on site, and the overall laid back vibes made the experience unforgettable. Truly can't wait to go back.

My husband and I really enjoyed this property! We have been to Akumal many times but decided that we wanted to stay somewhere that had food and drinks included! We loved the location being walking distance into town, the food options were great and we never needed a reservation! The employees were definitely amazing! I cannot say enough about the customer service! They wanted to make sure that everyone was enjoying themselves regardless of just trying to relax or taking part in the activities. Our goal this vacation was to really just relax, and that’s what we were able to do! The beach is beautiful which is where we sat most of the time. They have smaller quieter pools to go to along with walk up bars to grab a cocktail from. We chose the Penthouse suite so that we could be even more secluded on the rooftop and enjoy the views and the jacuzzi. We had the best time! Especially if you’re looking for a more low resort to stay at, this is the place to go. We will definitely be going back!!

This is a beautiful, low key resort. If you are looking for party central, this isn’t the spot. If you are looking for a relaxing spot where the employees really seem to care about creating a great guest experience, lots of free activities and a fantastic location, this is it. If looking for outside excursions, they also do a good job. Juan helped us with paid tours and great recommendations of how to easily get around the area from Tulum to Playa Del Carmen safely and cheaply.

The good: Loved the proximity to beach, all rooms are ocean view. The staff are lovely. Nice decor and vibe. Clean, well appointed room. The food is hit or miss as far as their fine dining options. The bad: Elevator was broken half the time and building 4 stank of sewerage in hallway. Getting a good chair on the beach or by the pools is cutthroat. Get your towel on a chair by 615 am.

This place is wonderful! Remember to stamp your feet when you first walk in the Sea to let the baby rays who hang there know you are coming so they will vamoose! Bring our own snorkel gear, we got travel snorkel sets from Amazon for only $30 that were perfect. The Yoga and evening Meditations and Sound Healings were amazing. It is a superlative Yoga Space. It has everything a yogi or yogini needs! The music after dinner in the beautiful opne air lobby was fun if you felt like staying up after dinner, there is room for dancing. The staff are fabulous!

You never know what you'll get when you book a vacation online. I'd booked a family vacation with my adult kids and their partners and it was very important that everything was perfect! Akumal Bay was a dream come true. From the moment we walked into the resort we were all amazed. The reception was so welcoming and the hotel was breath-taking. Our rooms all had a view of the ocean and they were beautiful. We tried all the restaurants and loved all of them. Swimming and snorkeling on the beach was amazing and we all saw turtles, stingray and many large schools of beautiful fish. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Me and my family stayed at Akumal for New Years and had a blast. The property is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. The beach was perfect with only minor waves and little or no seaweed. My 10 year old daughter loved snorkeling and we saw many sea turtles, rays, and beautiful fish. The beach is very long and great for long walks. The food in the four restaurants was top notch and the pool area was very nice.
