Overall it was perfect for what we needed. The kitchenette was perfect for making breakfast in the morning and for late night snacking. Cons: Aside from the strange musty smell when you first walk in. The smell goes away after you open the door for a while. The other reason was the kitchen sink faucet. I stayed in Cabin 309. I love the cabins here, very nice and private. I usually opt for a cabin over a room. The owner and staff are very helpful and very sweet people. Beautiful setting in the forest with a walking path and a little railroad. Conveniently situated to be close to all the things I want to see and do. Plus the price is right. I love the Northern Queen!

The hotel is situated in a beautify estate. All my friends and families love to stay here and also enjoy the breakfast. No so anymore, the restaurant is closed and the hotel room is dated. The toilet is filthy when we checked in. We call for the service. The service is not prompt, so we have clean up by ourself because we have to use it soon. I sure hope the management will do some improvement to get this beautiful place back to a desirable place to stay.

Our room was comfortable and the location was great but the Wi-fi was basically non-existent and, when we finally wanted to watch the Weather Channel, the TV didn’t work.

When I was checked in I was assigned to & given a room key for one of their cabin rooms. I didn’t reserve this type of room, but when I questioned it the girl said it was correct. It was rainy and dark and when I first drove up, the porch light was off which made it difficult to navigate the path to the cabin as well as the porch and getting inside. I left my belongings in the front room and left for the event I was attending in Nevada City. At around 1am I returned to my room to find that my key didn’t work. I drove back to the office and was made to stand outside in the cold and rain while a different clerk tried to tell me that I wasn’t checked in to that cabin. Even tho I had the key with the number written on the key holder! Then I found out that the checked someone else into my cabin. When those people entered and saw my belongings, they went back and reported this. I didn’t receive a phone call or any communication letting me know about their error. And when I showed up I was made to feel like I was the one who made a mistake. But they let someone else in a room that had my belongings in it & I was mad. To top it all off, I reserved and paid for a room with a King bed…this cabin had a Queen. I’ve stayed at this hotel before with no issues, but I’m not sure if I’ll go back. There was no apology given by the night clerk and his attitude that I was somehow in the wrong was incredibly rude and insulting.

I arrived one hour and thirty minutes before the stated time i would be able to check in, and i entered thenoffice hreeted the clerk and asked if there would be a chance i coupd get checked in early. I was quickly met with the respincw that there would be a $25 dollar fee for an early check in. I understand policy but couldnt justify paying nearly a third the total price of the room for the night so that i could be in thenroom an hour earlier. The day was cold and wet since a storm had developed. I did not feel like standing outside in the cold winter rain and asked if it would be ok for me to sit in the lobby and wait out my hour until i could get checked in. Upon asking yhe clerk if i could find a seat in the lobbynto stay warm i was quickly met with the response "i dont think rhe manager would like that." As the disbelief of what she just said sank in. I looked around the easily 20 foot by 30 foot lobby to realize there were no seating arrangements even in the lobby. Lots of spots that could easily accommodate a chair or love seat, yet all i see are empty floors and clear walls. As i as i turned buttenening my jacked preparing to embrace the cold, I thought to myself how uninviting the lobby and staff came across to me. I just could not understand how odd and uncaring could this place be to have no seatsin the lobby for people to relax and then tell me I was not invited to stay in the lobby while I was trying to escape the inclement weather. This was one of the worst stays I’ve ever had. Hot water went out on day two. The room was messy, crumbs in the seat. Damaged furniture and counters. The heater worked. Sorta. I was miserable the whole time. I thought it would be worth it to save a few bucks, I’d gladly paid the price of a better motel.
