It was our first first in Barbados and it went better than we expected enjoyed every moment of it from Wendy in the office to the rest of the staff the restaurant brilliant. The location is brilliant as well.

Excellent stay at the Monterary, it’s basic but has everything you need, the room was lovely and clean, and the cleaners came every day! All staff are so friendly. The pool is quiet but nice for a little sunbathe and swim. Location is perfect, 3 mins walk from Dover beach, supermarket, socialites bar and restaurant and rebel burger bar opposite and Kandy bar virtually next door. Great little stay second year on run, great price for this location.

Overall, we had a great time at the Monteray Hotel. Location was great and having the full kitchen and a great patio was a huge plus. We loved having the souvenir shop and the coffee shop right downstairs. The market around the corner was also grear. The couple complaints we have is that for two days the room did not receive service despite putting the sign on the door and when we called housekeeping about it, they denied the sign being there or that it was put on do not disturb. This happened towards the end of the trip and after the two consecutive days of no room cleaning service we had to call every day about housekeeping as by two or 3 PM the room was still not serviced, despite earlier in the trip it being done earlier in the day (typically by noon). We also did not have hot water for a few days. Some of the furniture in the room was also so old it was coming apart.

Our stay was very pleasant and comfortable. The room was clean and the outdoor pool / hammocks were a nice reprieve on our last day when the ocean was a bit too aggressive for my liking! Staff was able to hold our bags when we arrived early before our room was available, and they were able to accommodate late check out for us. The location was prime as well with only a short 5-minute walk to the nearest beach, bars, restaurants and the main road where you can hop onto the buses. Would stay here again!

The room was completely disgusting with human hair (including pubic hair) littered throughout. The property was very run down, albeit being in a very convenient area in the "gap". The staff were friendly, but were not as helpful when I asked for a refund given the state of the room, instead deferring me to expedia/hotels.com (which is not as convenient / timely). Either way, we were able to get a refund from the property so I'm grateful for that; however, I think its deceiving this property is rated "exceptional" with a 8+ star rating on hotels.com, that seems super inflated and not transparent with customers.

We really enjoyed the retro vibe of our second floor studio. We loved having coffee on the balcony every morning. One a couple of occasions we saw parrots in the trees. Joy, Hetty and other staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would stay again!

This was a great place to stay. It had all kitchen amenities, perfect backyard sized pool, walking distance to the beach (2 mins), 2 minute walk to Dover Marker. All staff was very kind and friendly. Great gift shop and Cake Lady Cafe attached. 3 min walk to Barry’s Surf School. So many restaurants, souvenir shops, and bars. We had to walk about 15 mins to main road to catch a bus but we enjoyed it. 15 min drive from Pebbles Beach. Taxis always available. I would definitely stay there again!!

I enjoyed staying here, but I'll start by saying if you're looking for fancy and modern this wouldn't be for you, if you want an authentic traditional Caribbean place you will love it here. I started in the Corridor room, I don't think enough info or pics are available on this room. It's basically like a 1 bed apartment on the ground floor on the entrance to the hotel, so it kinda feels like you're not in the hotel. There is no window in the bedroom there's windows in the living area but you can't open the curtains and let light in as it's a corridor and people are always walking past. Now this room would be fine if you're not claustrophobic and travelling as a couple. As I felt uncomfortable there the lovely staff moved me upstairs to a studio room which I was so thankful for. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe here and didn't feel the need to sleep with a chair up against the door. The room had a large bed, vanity table (with amazing lighting by the mirror), clean bathroom, kinda separate kitchen with a full size fridge, cooker and everything you need, TV with really good cable channels, A/C and and an absolutely huge balcony which overlooks the pool and was large enough to have a table and chairs and sun lounger. Rooms were cleaned daily, the lady who cleaned my room was lovely and friendly and the staff in general were sooo lovely and helpful and welcoming from the moment I arrived they did their best to make sure my stay was comfortable and also security

I booked one King bed and got two twin beds, the mattress was so hard like a rock. I found bugs in my room. The TV had four channels. I changed my room the next day. Air-conditioning worked horrible. TV was so tiny. You couldn’t see it. And this one had channels, but not a smart TV. All of the furnishings needed to be updated. Only thing good was the location. The maintenance man was pathetic and needs to fix things. The toilet seems like it runs a good two minutes after flushing. Windy, the lady at the front desk was very nice. also, the rooms were very noisy because the walls were thin. You can hear the maintenance people or housekeeping when they start early in the morning waking you up. Plus all of the outside Bertas or whatever that goes on at night time.
