This was our 4th stay at B-A-W over the years and we stayed 3 nights. We heard the rooms were updated and we were anxious to visit. We were disappointed, especially with the bedding. The sheets were clean but a bit dingy & worn, the comforter was very worn with tears, the fake fireplace did not light, the phone didn’t work, one of the tv remote controls was broken so we took it to the office, and the bathroom had 2 bath towels, one washcloth and one hand towel for two people over 3 nights. In the cupboard there were 2 cups, 2 dinner plates and 2 bowls. If we didn’t wash right after using them, there would have been no others to use for our next meal. Although the weather was beautifully cool, we didn’t want to sleep with the window open due to an easy breakin. Our room faced Asilomar street. With the window closed, it was quite warm to sleep and there was not a fan in the closet. During our stay we did have the Do Not Disturb sign on our door, which would have brought fresh towels and cleaned a dish or two. But, it would have been nice to have a few extra necessities when we arrived without having someone come into our room.
On the bright side, the grounds are lovely, the location is beautiful, the staff is extremely friendly and the light breakfast offerings are very much appreciated.
