Poor check-in experience

I booked a king-size one bed room on line. I arrived earlier on the day, the staff at front desk confirmed my reserbation. But when I check-in later at evening, they told me they had no more king size one-bed room available, neither did my colleague. They wish to give us single two-bed room as substitute. We rejected and argued. Finally their manager showed up and gave us what we booked , the king size one-bed room, without saying any words. I wandered if the staff lied to us or just midunderstanding?

No room for us

We arrived to find out there was no record of our reservation even though I showed them the reservation and reservation number. They were “sold out”, hum!!!! I guess either they could get a higher rate than they booked us at 3 weeks prior to arrival or Hotels.com didn’t do their job. Regardless, we didn’t have a room and no suggestions were offered. What’s the point of a reservation????

I would stay here again

Our room was relatively clean. The bathroom toilet gurgled all night. There was no hot water at the sink. Lighting was odd. The lights and lamps didn't seem to light tje room, just small areas that didn't need light. The construction going on on the roof made parking very inconvenient at best. The bed frame was terrible. The way it stuck out all the way around caused me to beat my shins up constantly. On the other hand, the staff was great! Terrance was especially helpful. He was polite, pleasant, and professional. I spoke with the manager and she was very receptive to my concerns regarding the water situation as well as my compliments to the staff.

We were allowed to check in early on game day. Walking distance was short to Cameron Stadium, the campus and chapel. Comfortable hotel.

The room was very clean! The bed, furniture and bathroom were all very well maintained and kept clean. The employees were very helpful and friendly and the food and coffee available in the lobby were really nice.

Convenient location while visiting the Duke Hospital or VA Hospital. The free parking was very helpful. Room was recently nicely renovated, although there were a number of punch list items such as lights not working and missing closet barn door. The area around the hotel is only parking lots and hospitals.
