If you want to get out and enjoy a nice, friendly and relaxing time away from the city, Julian is an excellent choice. Making Gold Rush Hotel your choice to stay a night or two or more would make it the Perfect choice. Staff that included Becky, Valerie and Lisa made our second visit such a great time. Breakfast is excellent and the coffee is a perfect compliment. The rooms could be a bit small for some. It is so peaceful and quiet you will not even think of the small room, if that was your first impression. Being our second visit, this time guaranteed we would be booking again in the near future. You will not go wrong choosing this place for a nice quiet time in the mountains.

Charming and peaceful. Feels like traveling back to a simpler time. We enjoyed reading books on the patio, playing non-electronic games in the library, and strolling through "downtown" Julian. After all that physical exertion we appreciated the super comfy bed. :-)

From the minute we stepped in the front door and our final departure we had the most wonderful time at the Julian Gold Rush Hotel. Staff was great, friendly, helpful, outstanding breakfast, great to have gathering areas to meet and get to know other guests, no TV, felt we were back in the gold rush days. Will be back.

The Julian Gold Rush Hotel is charming and authentic, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it a pleasure to stay. It’s located in the heart of Julian and within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants, which makes exploring the town incredibly convenient. The included breakfast is quite delicious and a wonderful way to start the day. While the rooms on the upper floors are on the smaller side, they add to the fun, cozy experience. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again.

We've stayed here before. I love the nostalgia of this hotel. It takes you waaaayyy back. No TVs is a plus. It keeps the kids off technology. We enjoyed the time playing board games and reading books.

From the moment we entered the Julian Gold Rush Hotel we were treated like family. The interior is warm and cozy with a stunning attention to detail. The room was quaint and comfortable. The parlor was breathtaking and open for the Hotel guests to freely mingle. The selection of board games and books was amazing. I would whole heartedly recommend a stay.

The hotel was charming, especiallythe lobby and dining room. However, the rooms themselves were small and cramped. The bed was too high to get onto without assistance and seemed more like a full. Also no TV, fridge or other amenities, and not comfortable for 2 people.

Old fashion it is for sure! This place dates back to times where the bedside table was not invented, where to put your book, glasses, alarm and water bottle? I am rather skinny but would bet that some costumer don't fit in the shower... Other than this I enjoyed the served breakfast, nice!
