The staff is incredibly friendly and speaks a really good English! I would definitely recommend this hotel but I would not recommend the city or the country as a place to visit. Because it’s so boring! but that’s not their fault. But if you are gonna go to this city, stay here at this hotel.

A gem of a place. Perfect hotel. Clean, quiet, spacious, excellent breakfast with cappuccino, which is very rare here. Jacuzzi on the roof and a special café.

Wonderful Hotel

As your drive up to Alma Historica Boutique Hotel you are transported away. You are in the old city of Montervide full of old buildings with character. A lovely park is across the street. The door opens with a welcoming smile. The hotel takes the historica seriously from the lobby to the rooms. Each room is decorated in the theme of a famous citizen of Uruguay. Our first room was the Don Joaquin. Don Joaquin kept popping up throughout our trip in museums, restaurants, virtually everywhere. It was interesting to learn about him. The room was lovely and very large with a sitting room that could be closed off. The bathroom was a good size with nice water pressure in the rain shower. Later in our trip we came back for a night and had a much smaller room on a lower floor. The room was cramped for two people and their luggage. But the bathroom and shower were a good size. Like many hotels in South America neither room had a kettle or coffee maker. The view from the rooftop was lovely . We enjoyed having a glass of Tannat while admiring the view. We did not use the jacuzzi ¬ it seemed a bit cold for us. Breakfast is served in a lovely room off the lobby. The offerings are pretty much the same every day but tasty none the less. The fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. The location is perfect for exploring the old town. For us the best part of Alma Historica is its employees. They were always smiling, ready to answer questions, get a bucket of ice, or give

PERFECT! So beautiful. Loved it and highly recommend. And love the historic area. The staff were some of the best I have ever had and I’ve traveled around the world. Breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend.

This is a very pleasant small hotel. We are a couple and stayed in a Superior room facing the park. Everything was wonderful except that there is insufficient light over the sink in the bathroom. The room was quiet, bed comfortable, lots of hot water and towels, aircon worked fine. Staff are wonderful--highest rating. Breakfast was 5 stars--we especially appreciated the extended hours for breakfast because we were tired from our flights from North America. The old city is described in guides as dangerous at night but this information is out-of-date. We were able to walk to local restaurants and felt safe. We used Uber for access to other parts of the city without difficulty. Hotel is definitely recommended.

The place is a safe heaven and the people working here are fantastic unfortunately the Hotel is located in the middle of a reclining or upcoming neighborhood. It is not clear which way this neighborhood is going , it simply is not very inspiring right now .

This hotel truely is a hidden gem. Deep in the old city on a beautiful square the hotel itself if very well presented and the rooms are wonderful. However, the real differential is the absolutely fantastic staff. They cannot do any more to make you feel welcome and at home. We would love to come back and highly recommend!

hotel pequeño en el barrio viejo

En general el servicio esta bien, la habitación clasica es muy pequeña, el baño no tiene ventilación y el extractor muy bajo - el olor se pasó a la habitación. El WC tiene una falla y escurre el agua, la caja fuerte estaba cerrada, detalles que deben de ver antes de entregar la habitación. Las toallas las quitaron aunque los colgamos y ponen gorra de baño, pero ninguna otra amenidad... La ubicación del hotel es muy tranquilo, lastima que todo la parte de ¨Ciudad Vieja¨ esta con muchos edificios abandonados, el centro historico no es lo que uno se espera de la capital de Uruguay. Como Hotel Boutique, se pueden dar todavía pequeño plus en las habitaciones, una fruta o un chocolate, una explicación sobre el edificio mismo, un ¨did you know¨ sobre Montevideo, etc...
