BAD MANAGER

Overall staff very friendly and accommodating- EXCEPT for the manager. Leonardo- He doesn't know how to communicate with guests - He approached me in the cafe to discuss a financial / personal matter and the conversation became heated. I later had conversations with the staff that he doesn't not treat them well either. and were embarrassed by his behavior. I sopke with Edwin after- and he apologized for Leo' s behavior. Needless to say- my experience there was below satidfactory. I will nt be reccommending the hotel- and most likely write a review. Other notes- Place was clean- service was very good beach was nice the one other major problem I had was with the quality of the food- it was below average

Parfait, mais.....

Très bel hôtel. Piscine et plage superbes. Les restaurants sont bon, variés. Le personnel est sympa. L'endroit est propre et idyllique. Mais il y a un MAIS ! 3 points : 1)un peu plus de serviettes de plage seraient les bienvenues. Tous les jours c'était la bataille pour tout le monde ! 2) arrêtez de harceler les gens avec votre "club". Nous avons été interpellés 7 fois en 8 nuits par vos agents . C'est épuisant et désagréable. 3) les excursions : les camions de transport sont bruyants, odorants, inconfortable, et dangereux. Des heures a respirer les gaz d'échappement, et a entendre le bruit du moteur assourdissant. C'était vraiment désagréable. Sinon l'hôtel en lui même est parfait pour passer du bon temps.

Honestly the food was not great at all. Room service was horrible and the seafood restaurant was horrendous. The only good restaurant was fusion. So I suggest booking there for sure! The service was alright depending on who you speak to. I spent 30 min waiting for towels by the pool. The property is beautiful and clean which is a plus. But I would have preferred to stay at an air b and b and enjoy the restaurants in the area.

The place is really beautiful and the staff is really nice. I really enjoyed and can’t wait to go back to another Viva. The country is really awful and poor and the way from Puerto Plata until the resort was really bad. Despite that I really loved the experience.

Picturesque but Terrible Service

Positively, the hotel is clean, has a lovely pool and beach. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. I was greeted at the gate when arriving with a gruff “nombre” no hello, no welcome. The same was true at the front desk. A terrible start to the trip and I was keen to turn around right then; and should have. The food is dreadful, poorly cooked and sitting out for much too long. Also, mostly the same offerings at every meal. The staff is either rude or indifferent to issues. I did not have hot water during my entire stay and, despite repeated trips to the front desk to seek help (both in English and Spanish) they just kept saying “its just a water problem” and did nothing to help me or even let me use the shower in another room. I explained that the sink was hot but the shower was frigid and they simply shrugged. In my first five minutes, I asked where to find beach towels (which were strangely very hard to come by) and the man launched into a Club Viva sales pitch instead of getting towels. Hardly relaxing and so gross. We were looking at this place for a very large wedding buyout but they don’t deserve the business.

Our recent visit to this resort was nothing short of frustrating. We arrived early at 7:30 AM for an excursion we had booked online that was supposed to depart at 8:00 AM. However, the experience quickly turned sour. When we approached the excursion customer service desk, the staff seemed completely clueless about the booking. Instead of resolving the issue promptly, they told us to wait until their manager responded. They disappeared without providing any updates, leaving us hanging for over an hour. By the time 8:00 AM came and went, we were finally informed that the excursion had not been available for months! What’s baffling is why they didn’t tell us this immediately instead of wasting our entire morning. A responsible business would have offered an alternative activity or at least communicated honestly. To add insult to injury, the refund process has been a nightmare. Despite calling, emailing, and speaking to staff in person, all we’ve received are empty assurances that “the refund is coming.” It’s now been 11 days, and we’re still waiting for our money. This lack of organization, accountability, and customer care is shocking. While I’ve accepted the wasted morning, being out the money for an excursion we didn’t even get to enjoy is unacceptable. I strongly advise against trusting this resort with your time or money.

The beach front access is really nice! The AC in the rooms is great and they're great at providing and resupplying bottled water throughout the stay. I really liked the gym facilities as well. The quality of the food was average, but not incredible. The employees were sporadically helpful. I asked multiple employees where the clean pool towels were and most of them lazily pointed to an area, only to find that all the towels were dirty. The hotel incorrectly billed my for using a spa service, and then wasted an hour an half of my time trying to resolve it, made me late for my flight because of it, and charged me inaccurately even after all my efforts to resolve the issue.

Like - Crew - Room - Food / beverages (for cocktails they should have low sugar options, food - it would be nice to mark dairy/gluten free food for persons with intolerances/allergies) - beach Not so nice - sometimes music was too loud and not in my taste - they tried hard to sell club thing for 14k USD (this felt like being interrogated hahahaha) - seldom power cuts - guess this was because they used makeshift extension leads outside (made from wall sockets and wall boxes without protection against water ingress)

This is my 4th time in DR but first time in la samana and first time at this resort. The food being subpar is an understatement, even in the restaurants. I was served a lobster on NYE and it was half raw, Eggs were gross, and all meats were over cooked. Some staff were nice others were plain rude and couldn’t care less to our needs. The pool was cold, the “hot tub” was cold too. We upgraded to a bungalo for a private pool, but we got a cockroach, dozens of centipedes, and a cold plunge pool and a cold shower. The ran out of towels daily too. Lastly and almost most importantly, they don’t have an area for indoor events so the music even across the resort was so loud I felt like my room was shaking. Made the best out of it, but definitely won’t be returning.
