Nothing fancy but comfy and a great value

This Econolodge is my go-to for a quick stop betweej Mpls enroute to the Black Hills. It's no frills but comfy and SO handy for I-90 traffic. It even has a small pool which I didn't use but looked fine. My rooms have always been clean and well equipped, although with prices this low one has to anticipate worn and shabby furnishings. To their credit, current owners have made great strides in cleaning up the property and making it more presentable, especially the public areas which used to seem quite run down. Is it safe? -- fun fact, on one trip I accidentally left my car unlocked and RUNNING all night. Nobody touched it.

If you can afford it, stay somewhere else.

This hotel is seedy and dirty. We booked a room with a king bed and upon entering, there was a ladder in the room with a bunch of stuff thrown all over the bed. We were then out into a room with two queen beds. The hallway smells like weed and the parking lot is dimly lit and filthy. Trash and cigarette butts all over. Shady people hanging out in the parking lot. The room was dirty. There was grime all around the perimeter of the sink and mold on the ceiling above the shower. The lampshades were filthy and one of them was crushed. There were cracks in the walls and they were so thin you could hear every word the neighbors were saying. You could also hear every footstep from the floor above. The mattresses were hard, thin, and uncomfortable. Surprisingly the fridge was clean. At 5am there were two people swearing at each other in the hallway. If you want a good, comfortable, and clean place to sleep, this is not the place to be. It was overpriced for the condition it is in. I can't see how anyone could rate this place "outstanding." If you can afford it, stay somewhere else.

Not a safe place to stay

There was pot hid in the bathroom exhaust fan , mold on the shower curtain, dirty, no back cover to the tv remote. Managment was horriable and did not care of my concerns.

When we checked in - it was a hassle couldn’t find our reservation, got in room tv wouldn’t work. We checked out next day & when we got our credit card they charged us another 15.00 for ruining towels. They said there was blood or lipstick on towels. We only used one towel & took no shower. I don’t use lipstick & there was no blood! I will not stay at this Econo Lodge on Cliff Ave again! Oh also the free breakfast is a let down.

Property was fine. Breakfast offered very limited options - nothing but carbs and coffee. No fresh fruit. They also up charged me $2.50 which is not that big of a deal, but still an unpleasant surprise.

There was a hole in the wall in our room. Peeling paint, empty liquor bottles and marker on our sheets. You can also hear everything from the rooms around you. Don’t stay here. I checked out 3 days early.

Beds clean but not comfy. Overall thumbs down.

Beds were clean. That’s about it. Bedroom overall was very dated and worn. Hallways were worn and dirty. Broken machines, old couches lining wall by back door. Breakfast was minimal with no protein at all.
