Small but well equipped

Small but well equipped room where you could park you car just in front of your room. Water pressure is great but there are nothing to separate the shower area and the toilet. Water splash everywhere after shower. Anyway, it is a good choice in this small town.

When I came to check in, the front desk told me the room was not ready and I was asked to wait for one and half hours. It was nice at all. After a long day drive, I told them I needed a rest! Then the clerk apologized and was willing to find an upgrade room for me immediately. The entire service was good!

Park with a view

Had a great overnight stay in a recently renovated unit. Modern & fresh with room to move. Kitchenette well appointed. Comfortable bed, clean sheets & towels also a couch to watch tv after a long hike in such a picturesque area. Staff great & had fresh eggs for sale.

Fine for a short stay

Large room upstairs in one of the main buildings. Everything we needed for a night’s stay. Somewhat dated and horribly soft bed. Hard to be private as the corridor goes by the room on both sides - entry door on one side, door to the shared porch on the other side. Very welcoming staff.

Great little motel room with basic kitchen facilities. If you want to microwave or cook you still need to use the communal kitchen. Beautiful setting.

Motel OK, Haast not so much

We had the upper corner room with the king bed. Very comfortable and great pillows. Quite roomy. But the description describes a balcony and the photos show "a balcony" off the living room. Its not a balcony, its a common terrace for everyone on the upper floor with no partitions. In all honesty, the room was fine but Haast has nothing to offer. We had probably our worst meal in NZ at the bar because there are very few options. The tiny grocery store us overpriced and has minimal selections. We made canned soup in our room for dinner. If possible, drive further up the coast to Fox Glacier to stay as it is a pretty town with better infrastructure.

It’s an ok place. Shower not properly maintained, the water wasn’t draining properly as shower was in use. For the price they charge I think that basic issues like this shouldn’t exist. Also,dips next to speed bumps were quite annoying. I’m afraid we won’t be back.
