Had we read a few more reviews we would not have stayed here. Beneath the 5 star reviews were the more recent, poorer reviews that were more accurate.
First, there is no staff. You’ll be inundated with hotels.com messages from somewhere, but once you arrive there is no one. There was a friendly lady on site for “happy hour”, but was of no help.
Second, with no one on site, don’t expect anything to be fixed or changed. We specifically chose a room with a fireplace for romantic finishes to our couple of days in a winter wonderland (we live in Texas). One of the first things we tried to do was start the fireplace in our room. To our disappointment, it wouldn’t turn on. Even after repeated attempts and several reviews of the “instructions”, no fire. We were given a phone number in one of the many messages to contact for any issues. We texted and called from our phone. There’s no room phone. To this day we have yet to get a response. As we tried to enjoy a glass of wine during happy hour, we spoke to the lady offering the wine and snacks. She took our room number and said she would have a gentleman come check it out. Nothing. We didn’t even see the lady again the rest of our stay.
There are was no way to change rooms, paper thin walls, etc., etc., but you get the gist. This was once a highly regarded and lovely place to stay according to other reviews. Sadly, new ownership is letting it sink unmanned. We aren’t even expecting a response to this review.
