2/10 Poor

Lovely location but you won't get any sleep! Positives: The hotel is in a Central location in the town with plentiful parking and an easy walk into the town. Breakfast is fairly good with good quality food and satisfactory drink options. Negatives: The hotel hosts live music and party events in the same wing as the bedrooms, so the bedrooms are above or beside the party room which runs until 12am. The sound of the music could be heard over the TV and in the bathroom with the shower on. We had a booking including our toddler, and at no point on the website, through booking or upon check in were we told this was a late night music venue. There are a lot of stairs up to the bedrooms, so if you have any mobility issues, this would not be suitable. The beds are fairly soft, so if you are on the larger side, they are not the most comfortable. If the noise of the party doesnt keep you awake, the refrigeration/ extractor for the kitchens is also particularly noisy. This means that you cannot have the window open due to the noise and there are no fans or air conditioning, which means that on warm days. Like we had, the room is very hot and there is no way to cool it. I would not stay here again, and will be looking for somewhere else to stay when we return to the area later in the year.

Lovely stay with good staff. Restaurant closed quite early for a Friday night was the only thing I could possibly suggest for improvement.

Room was extremely neat and clean and very well maintained. Only sad part was the breakfast was not well attended. She was a racist who got our food. I just asked for extra hash down and she was like another one? Another one? And made me feel a bit hesitant to ask what I wanted

Really enjoyed our stay, only negative I have is that the door to the room was difficult to open, but that was because it was clear the room had been given a new comfortable carpet. Breakfast was great, lovely atmosphere

Enjoyable stays in the lovely hotel

The hotel is in the heart of Carmarthen city centre with easy access to all the shops and restaurants. It's easy to drive to the neighbourhood beaches, gardens. We love the stays in the hotel. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. The English breakfasts are wonderful.

The bed was comfortable but the beds were around a corner from each other! Not a problem apart from only 1 bed could watch the television!

Nice, clean room. Was quite noisy as it overlooked the street. The shower was tiny, practically impossible to shower without washing your hair. The breakfast was really good in a lovely dining area, we also had lunch which was also good. Friendly staff, overall a good experience.

Great value

Our stay was very good. A few small issues like towel rail loose and drawer handle missing but good size room well equiped plenty if tea, coffee and milk. Great choice for breakfast and very reasonably priced to include breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Good position close to centre of town.

Great location for walking the Wales Coast Path.

The room was a little 'tired' but generally OK. Unfortunately the heating in the rooms was not on so it was occasionally cool. The hotel did apologise once we had pointed this out to them. The restaurant was good and the staff friendly. We would have liked prepared fruit for breakfast instead of a limited selection of unprepared fruit. Parking on site in a monitored car park was a real bonus. The hotel is in a fantastic location for access to the town centre and the bus and rail stations. Could not have been better from that point of view.

Stayed in rm 21. Good bits: Bed was comfortable, hotel pleasantly quirky (as you'd expect from an older (historic) property. Bathroom clean, bedding high quality. Staff were really nice. Polite without being overly friendly. Service speed in hotel and restaurant was spot on. Check in and out was easy. Hotel is right in the middle of the town and convenient for many other attractions. Not so good bits: The entrance to the car park is very narrow so, if you have a large SUV, then you'll need to park elsewhere. There is no lift and the stairs are 'old building' style so you need to watch your step in places. No issue for us but those with mobility issues would be advised to request a room low down. Neither of these are the hotel owner's fault, it is what it is with an old coaching inn. Bathroom had a few issues. There was paint flaking and mould developing over the shower end of the bath and the toilet flush was temperamental. Also, the bathroom has no heater and was much colder then the main bedroom. The TV was at 90 degrees to the bed so not easy to watch TV in bed. Would be better in the alcove opposite. Overall, a nice, welcoming place with good food and lovely staff. A few maintenance issues that could be easily ironed out. Would we stay again? We'd definitely consider doing so.

6/10 Good

It is in the town centre and seemed quiet and peaceful. On a one way system. I missed the entrance and had to go round the town to get access to the parking area, which was only just manageable in a medium sized vehicle. My room was one of two in an annexe which only links to the main hotel via the outside parking area. It wasn't very brightly lit and bedside lamp didnt work. I went in search of a light bulb but to no avail. As I couldn't read in my room, I went to the cinema, which was only 5 minutes walk. There was a decent en suite bathroom. Breakfast in the main hotel was very nice and I only saw two other guests. I returned my key to a waitress . It didnt seem to matter who I gave it to!ĺ
