I am so happy we chose El Cid for our family vacation. After reading reviews I chose this all inclusive for the food reviews and the excellent shore snorkeling at the resort. Being scuba divers, we wanted a great place to introduce the world of snorkeling to our children, 8, and 10. I was actually blown away by the multiple coral formations and vast array of reef fish there. We snorkeled almost every day here and honestly the snorkeling at El CID rivaled chanknaab by far. Make sure you go to the end of the bouys to see the ship wreck and giant anchor as well. We chose the Elite all inclusive plan as we are foodies. Ordered sea food for every dinner and it was beyond amazing. Their chefs definitely know what they are doing. Buffet was good, but to us the Elite plan was worth it for 5 star meals. Every staff member goes above and beyond for your stay and takes their jobs very seriously. Cruise passengers do arrive daily, but there are never too many, it can get pretty quiet when they are gone, in fact. Food at the swim up bar is all Amazing if you are looking for traditional American food for picky kids or adults. You can also easily hop over to the cruise port for shopping convenience. I just can’t say enough about how much we loved El Cid and we will definitely return.
