We were in Columbia to tour the University of South Carolina. We paid extra to get a room on non-ground level floor. We were first given a room on the ground floor and told it was fine. We tried to get in and the key didn't work. I then tried the key on a room across the hall and walked in on someone sleeping. They finally gave us a new key for a room upstairs. The sheets on both beds had stains on them. There was only one other car in the lot and no coffee in the morning.

Read the reviews before booking, and DO NOT BOOK. When we arrived the room door was wide open. There was a lock missing from the door, so it could not lock properly. Less than 10 minutes after arriving we went to the front desk and told them we wanted a refund. We left and had to book a new hotel room elsewhere. The manager would not honor any refund despite days of Hotels.com calling and us explaining the situation. Do not book. It's not safe, dirty, and the doors did not lock.

Cheap is not always better.

Did not stay. Place nowhere near what is pictured on the website. In sketchy part of town. Hotel in disrepair. Room smelled like weed. Asked for a new room. Guy goes into new room, (seen on security camera), quickly mops the floor and sprays the room. Walk in new room, floor is wet, smells like cheap cologne. Mold in bathroom. Nope. Not staying. Felt very unsafe.

the toilet overflowed so they told us no janitors worked that late and sent us to another room that smelled of 10 cans of btfota. bathroom lighting was great for pictures tho. cleanliness was not in the building. i’ve seen better at super 8

Worst place

Dirty lobby, stinky room, no batteries for remotes, no free breakfast as advertised, shower head was held on with tape, no shower door or curtain, the elevator was scary at best and the hotel is in a bad part of town. I will never stay here again or ever recommend this place to anyone

Hotel from Hell

The hotel smelled like cigarettes and it had rusty and mold. We only had 1 pillow each 1 washcloth and towel each and the mattress moved when you went to sit on it. The mattress was also hard to sleep on to get to our room it was very confusing because we came up on an elevator but the signs pointed in different directions and we had to go through a door. The halls were stank and so was the elevator. The sheets had burn marks and the top sheet was on the outside of the blanket. I would never book here again. Glad I didn’t book for 2 nights because the sleep seem to be nonexistent.

Not Exceptional, But Not Bad At All! Good & Cheap

After reading some negative reviews, I was skeptical of my upcoming stay, but I found that our room was adequately clean and the service was straight forward without any issues. They were even understanding when we stayed past our check-out time. I ran into no issues staying here, and was not displeased with anything. My SO was spooked during the night though, as the bathroom lights were flickering a little bit. Personally, nothing stood out to me that would have made my stay a bad experience. Overall, a pretty good spot to stay if you're looking for somewhere cheap!

Was supposed to be smoke free, but the first room stunk of cigarette smoke. Second floor had a fire alarm with a dying battery that chirped all night. Room had a lot of damage and stained/dirty floors.

I’m extremely unhappy with the whole situation. I am in the military, and my orders got changed. However, the hotel would not work with me in terms of cancellation or changing the dates. This is very unfortunate. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I’ve also left reviews with Google. I will not be booking again at this location. I may not even use Expedia in the future.

Unacceptable conditions!

We didnt even stay at the property. Upon walking in, there was a musty smell to the whole property. Everything was run down, outdated and appeared unkept. Our room was filthy. The first thing we did was turn down the bed spread to find what appeared to be bed bugs, long hairs and possibly dried blood stains. Completely unacceptable!! We immediately went back to the front desk, where the young man working was apologetic, saying he refunded my stay and said he would address with housekeeping but still…gross! I have yet to see my promised refund post.

Property is very worn and lacks TLC, below standard; mold in bathrooms, carpet worn, sheets are sub-par super thin and not inviting hole in wall behind door, lots of clearance between door and door frame permitting noise from hallway to be very audible. Very noisy on side facing street. You get what you pay for ... cheap good enough for a couple hours sleep and go. Owners should walk through each room and assess the deficiencies.

AVOID - The carpet hasn’t been vacuumed, dirty used washcloths left in the bathroom from previous people, the TP holder that had been torn off the wall, refrigerator that flat out didn’t work, there was only a transparent roll down shade on the window that didn’t block any light, especially from the double street lamp outside. Unfriendly hotel staff and otherwise fairly dilapidated hotel. The pictures must’ve been taken after it had been remodeled, but there’s been no upkeep since. It’s an unpolished turd.

You get what you pay for

Trying to find a hotel in Columbia for under $125 gave us only one option. There were bags of trash in the hallway, barely enough towels, lights didn’t work, water damage on the ceiling & wall, fixtures pulling out of the drywall & the “breakfast” area in the lobby was disgusting. Lesson learned. Spend the extra money & stay on the nice side of the railroad tracks.
