I’m getting used to paying more than what you get in London; so it was little surprise that this room was very much mediocre.
The location is awesome, really close to King’s Cross/St Pancras. The room was on the ground floor, overlooking a service inner courtyard that did not add to the experience. The room was a tiny little thing, but the bed was comfortable enough.
My problem was the sound isolation, which was dearly missing. I could hear the baby crying at the room next door until 22:30, and later was awaken (despite the earplugs!) by several guests going up and down the stairs. It looked as if the wall the bed stood by was directly next to the old wooden stairs, creaking and heaving as people went up and down.
Since it was summer, temperatures were around 27 degrees Celsius. The tiny room without any ventilator (I asked for it and they had only one, for the receptionist) was unbearable. That added up discomfort and made sure I wanted to just get on with my trip to my next destination.
