We wanted to check out the Outerbanks on our way home to New England from South Carolina. Wish we were there for more than an overnight. The hotel right on the beach with an ocean view balcony was a beautiful stop on a long car trip.

This property overall feels very new and is well maintained. The room and general areas of the hotel were clean with the exception of a horseshoe crab shell that some idiot guest left in the hallway; it took a day for someone from the hotel to remove it after being told it was there. Only 3/5 for eco-friendliness; although HI is using large bottles of shampoo, body wash, etc in the bathrooms (yay), there is still a lot of styrofoam being used in the breakfast room and coffee bar (sad). It would be nice if each room had a recycling basket and if the property supported recycling: Even though we opted for the lesser expensive 'city view' room, the view was beautiful. The fridge in the room had a lot of room and separate freezer compartment that worked great to freeze our cooler packs. The walk up and over the dunes to the beach was short but the stretch from the deck to the sand would be inaccessible to anyone reliant on wheels to get around. The indoor pool (with outdoor sun deck) was a nice amenity as it was rainy the second day of our stay. There were plenty of protein and fruit options in the breakfast room. We would definitely choose to stay at this property again when in Nags Head.

Amazing stay at a great hotel.

Great hotel, loved the balcony with oceanview. Watched the sunrise every morning and used the easy beach access for beach walks afterward. The morning breakfast was hot, fresh, with a lot of hot options. Location was great for access to local towns. Shopping, and great resteraunts.

Broken balcony door

All in all, this was a very family, friendly location. Our room had a microwave and a mini fridge as well as a personal Keurig. We had a king room and we’re pleasantly surprised to have a pullout sleeper couch as well. The biggest downside was that we paid for the extra for an oceanfront view, but our balcony door was broken and stuck closed. It’s a huge disappointment. Normally after we get our toddler to bed, we sit on the balcony and enjoy each other‘s company for a little bit, so we don’t wake him up. But tbh at option was taken from us.

Hidden Gem!

A hidden gem! Older hotel, however, the higher floors offer great ocean views. The breakfast buffet was great, however, there were no available trays. Staff are super friendly and willing to answer any questions. Will stay at this location again.

Beautiful view but okay room

Okay stay. Beautiful view on the 5th floor oceanfront. Check in was 4pm exactly. I tried to check in 3pm but front desk said room was not ready. Once we received our room number there was someone else in the room when we entered. Front desk apologized and adjusted our stay. We received another room quickly. This room had a very strong odor. I didnt report right away as we were ready to get settled from our journey. But when I called the front desk the next morning, the customer service team was accommodating. A desktop machine to purify the room was placed in our room while we were gone. This made a world of difference. We were able to enjoy the remaining stay without the smell. Otherwise Great location. Close to restaurants and shopping. Great housekeeping staff. Outdated furniture.
