Well the lodge is out the country side in packwood. Beds are okay, room was dusty,open the curtains dust particles flying everywhere, my allergies started. I expect something a bit better.

Amazing!!!

Cowlitz River Lodge was a place of refuge for my son and I. It was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. I love the fact that there was a sink with a mirror outside of the bathroom. The lobby was extremely helpful. It had cold water for our water bottles, tea and hot water. I even enjoyed a bag of popcorn my first night there. I would recommend the cowlitz River Lodge to anybody that is going up to Mount Rainier. The national park is only 10 to 15 minutes from there. The lodge is also near a gas station and market. There are also a couple restaurants that are open late if you need them after coming back from the national park.

Comfortable stay, no breakfast

Very comfortable rooms with easy access to Mt. Rainier. In the morning we drank our coffee while watching elk in the front grass of the hotel. Great pillows, comfortable bed. No breakfast is offered, there is morning coffee with coffee mate but no actual cream.

Ok place to stay

Coffee in lobby was run out at 830 am with no plans on making more. No breakfast provided. No elevators for handicapped hubby so she put us in a pet room on bottom floor and charged an additional 35.00, even though we didn't have a pet. Front door was dented and scratched, making us wonder if people break in often. On the bright side, bed was comfortable and room clean. We're not that picky but this was an ok hotel with no views and pictures on website make it look so much better than it really is.

Nice room but bad service

The room was very clean and nice; bed was comfortable, and noise didn't seem to travel too much in between rooms. The reason I am giving this hotel 3 stars is because of the man at the front desk. He acted like we were bothering him when we were checking in, and then when my toddler accidentally locked us out of the room and I had to go ask for another key, he rolled his eyes and sighed before helping me. We also heard him speaking to someone on the phone, whom we assume was a customer, and he was very rude. Also, complimentary breakfast was advertised for this hotel, but when we got there, we were informed that breakfast is no longer available. That was a big disappointment, as breakfast being included was a factor in us choosing this hotel. Overall, if someone else were to be at the front desk next time we came through Packwood, we would stay there again, but otherwise, we will steer clear and try somewhere else.

Goods and bads

I’ll start with the nice parts of this property. The bed was definitely comfortable and was so nice to come back to after hiking Ranier. The property was in walking distance to the restaurants. It also offered a nice little snacks/amenities in the office. The biggest perk was seeing the elk feed in the field in the morning. The downsides were the staff. The man who checked us in was not friendly except when we asked to pet his dog (so sweet). He wouldn’t address my husband, only me. The rest of the housekeeping staff never said a word when we acknowledged them. The shower wouldn’t drain while we were bathing so we were standing in roughly 6” of water. I might as well have taken a bath. The water pressure was absurdly high so be careful putting your face in the water. At the times we wanted to relax and watch TV, it buffered and froze continuously and the Direct TV remote did not work. These are not make it break it things but it also took away from the stay. I would recommend it if you’re only in and out needing a comfy bed.
