I checked into the Portpatrick Hotel for a two-night stay from August 1st to 3rd, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a nightmare from the start.
On the first night, I discovered bedbugs in the room. I was promptly moved, but the new room appeared to be an area not typically open to guests. The room lacked basic essentials: no bed sheets, no pillowcases, a visibly dirty duvet, and no duvet cover at all.
I was then moved again, only to be told the following morning that we had to vacate the room because it had been double-booked. This led to a fourth move during our short stay.
The issues didn’t stop there… the shower in the final room didn’t work.
While one of the presumed managers was quite rude and dismissive, the night porter, who remained attentive and genuinely tried to help resolve the ongoing issues.
Overall, I would not recommend the Portpatrick Hotel based on this stay. As the harbour house and the waterfront hotel are much more reliable options for overnights in Portpatrick.
A Serious review of housekeeping and management practices is clearly needed.
