Well, what can I say!! The last time I visited, I was 15 years old back in 1989 with family. I returned with much anticipation worried that I may not have as wonderful time as I remember all those years ago but Stella did not fail to disappoint. After the hustle and bustle of Lake Como, Stella d’Italia on the absolutely stunning Lake Lugano was like a breath of fresh air. Gorgeous sleepy little village of San Mamete is nestled up within the glorious back drop of the mountains and Stella is perched right in front of the lake. I believe all the guest rooms are lake view and wow, what a view to behold. This is a magical spot on this planet and one which I hold close to my heart. The staff are friendly and helpful and it seemed that nothing was too much trouble, the food was outstanding and the hotel beautifully clean and tidy. It is even better than I remember it and I will definitely be returning in the future with family and friends to show off this magical spot.

Stunning location & comfortable rooms. Tip: it is better if you have your own car but there is a bus stop just outside the door. Friendly staff but disappointing there was no water or tea & coffee facilities in the rooms. Also our air conditioner wasn’t working for the first 48 hours which, during a hot spell, made one room uncomfortable.

We arrived after a long, hot drive from Strasbourg at this beautiful hotel in paradise. Located by the water, the air heavily perfumed, this hotel is perfectly situated. Incredibly quiet, it is delightfully old fashioned. Rooms are air conditioned and comfortable with good size bathrooms and South facing balconies with views over the lake. The restaurant provided an excellent dinner at a reasonable price. The staff were all charming. The only thing that disappointed us was the breakfast which was not of the standard of the evening meal. Car parking needs to be booked in advance. They have an electric charging point.

We had an amazing stay right on the water . Rooms are basic but bathrooms renovated . The balcony with water views and the grotto dining area are an extra bonus . Quaint hotel wrapped in history with modernity blended in . Breakfast was good albeit limited . Coffee was 👍👍👍. Great bar and sitting area .
