Had a great stay here. The highlight is the owners and staff who are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It seemed really quiet despite being over a pub. I will definitely stay here again whenever I am in the area.

We had the Cottesmore bedroom that is situated in the attic. The room had sloping ceilings as you would expect being an attic room. The sloping ceiling created a a very tight bathroom with regards to head height, The handheld shower unit could only be used by sitting in the bath or kneeling over the edge. The bed was king size, my wife found the mattress ok, however I did not, it did not support my weight (12st). The bedroom was showing signs of wear, they were decorating the staircase when we arrived , so they might be in a phase of freshening up throughout the pub. On the day we arrived it had been very hot and so the room was quite warm. The window was open letting in a welcoming breeze. There were a few HGV passing in the night meaning we had to close the window. Early morning traffic started about 5.30am (I was not sleeping well due to the mattress) The evening main meal was very good, they deserts menu had a few missing dishes, also no decaf tea (They did get some for breakfast). Breakfast was very well organised and a large range and size on offer. The bar had two real ale hand pulled beers that were very nice (Timothy Taylors), The bar area was quite small with about 8-10 customers. Ideal place to stay if you are visiting Rutland Water, a five minute drive away or you could walk or cycle there. The landlady and staff were very pleasant ,
