First of all let me say that the staff were all very helpful and friendly, the food was great and downstairs very comfortable.
The reason for staying was a single night business trip to save 10 hours of driving + meeting during the single day, but, if this were required again would not be using the Dalgarven House Hotel. Unfortunately, the welcome downstairs was severely let down by the room. Although the room had everything that you'd want for a single nights stay, bed(!), en suite, tea and coffee facilities & TV each one was in need of a little attention; the four poster bed was so rickety / squeaky and needed screws tightening up to the extent that the people in the next room must have thought it was my honeymoon night every time i turned over! The mattress was so hard that I ended up using the quilt to lay on and used the cover to sleep under. The en-suite was dirty including mouldy silicon around the edges, spray from the last persons toothbrush on the wall, and what I can only think was a bogey under the tap. The tea and coffee facilities were welcome but the milk was a month out of date, so not really usable. The TV was a god size, but positioned such that the posts of the bed blocked the view no matter where you laid in the bed - it just needs moving over a foot or so.
