The views of the Pyramids from Marriott Mena House are truly stunning — worth the premium in theory. However, the service was a major letdown. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly asked if we were actual guests, making us feel out of place and unwelcome.
At The Pavilion restaurant, a staff member made an offensive, racially charged comment when I simply asked about dining options. Despite tipping generously and being respectful, we noticed significantly better treatment given to lighter-skinned guests.
I raised these concerns with the duty manager at checkout, and all I received was a flat “I’m sorry.” No follow-up, no accountability.
For a hotel of this caliber, this experience was unacceptable. The views are great — but not worth the discrimination or lack of proper service.
