Great value, comfort, and location

This was our second time staying st Richmond Graduate, and it was still a great experience! Check-in was pleasant and easy, the room was spotless, and comfortable, and the location is fantastic (near downtown and only a few miles from one of the most unique areas of Richmond, Carytown.

JUST NO

We had already ordered dinner when about 5-10 minutes later, the chef quit, the bartender informed us that our order would take much longer than expected. And it did. They also didn't have some menu items. For instance, of the few desserts, we wanted the brownie and they said it was unavailable. My daughter ordered ice cream, THAT IS IT. An hour or so later when our food arrived, they also brought cheesecake which WE DID NOT ORDER, none of us like cheesecake. I told the bartender who said they would make sure to take it off and they couldn't take it back. Guess what, they still charged us and by then after waiting for so long, we just paid. The prices were unreasonable. The hotel is not the cleanest. The rooms are old, dusty, and dirty. One of our beds had blood or nail polish on it. The bathroom fan sounded like a jet. Instead of fixing, the maint.guy who SMELLED like cigarette smoke said to unplug it for now, great solution. The fridge was warm. No snack vending machines. No microwaves in the room. Very disappointing for the price we paid.

Hotel itself fine. Valet service NIGHTMARE

Husband and I on reservation. Husband couldn't go. I went alone. Valet supposed to text link to retrieve car. I never got it after two tries they gave up. I asked for car the next day they said I couldn't have it because I hadn't texted and my name wasn't on tag. Valet had written my husband's name (not there) on tag although both on reservation. I talked to manager (super nice and she told the valet I was on the reservation). Valets had said rules are rules and I couldn't have the car because my name wasn't there. One walked away. This morning when I checked out (6:00am) there was one male behind the front desk. I said I'd like to check out. He GRUNTED. I gave the room key and waited for "all good, thanks, come back again" etc. NOTHING. I asked valet for the car. She said no. You have to text. I said I never got the link. She asked if I gave the right number. When I said yes she yelled "just asking"! I told her the tag now had my name on it, it had my phone number on it and I wanted the car. She hunted through very unorganized key locker (I know because the day before they couldn't even FIND my keys and told ME to look). She asked what kind of car it was. I told her. They had written the wrong make on the tag so she said it wasn't my car. When she found the key she put it on the desk and said here you go. I said I have no idea where my car is. She said oh yeah, and brought the car. Valet horrible. Guy at front desk terrible for a public facing position. Not ever going back.

A suite

As I mentioned earlier, when I entered the room, it had some kind of strong scent. I had to run the fan from the heater/AC for several hours to dissipate it. I really got a good night sleep because the bed was wonderful and I like the extra long pillows they had. The bathroom was kind of strange because it had a low ceiling and there was not a lot of room. But the shower was very invigorating.

Check in and check out was quick and easy. The hotel was very cute and so clean. Our beds were comfortable. We were there for a show at the Altria Theatre and it was an easy walk. There are many restaurants in the area also.

Still tired after a noisy night

Not a good experience. My room was across from the elevators which were noisy and apparently there was some issue. I heard the elevator ding (loudly) 10 time between 3:00 and 3:30 am. The crack under the door was large and let both sound and light in. The room next door had someone talking loudly until 3:00 am when I got up and banged on the door. I knew I should have asked for another room as soon as I saw that it was across from the elevator and heard how unusually loud the elevator bells were but I never imagined that I would hear them all night.

Excellent visit overall. The hotel was full and only had 2 elevators working, so it was always a wait for the elevator. Bed and shower were awesome! Walkable to Altria Theatre and downtown restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

No coffee!!

Dirty towels, parking was a ripoff, and no coffee in the room. We had to ask for the trash instant coffee that was supposed to be in the room, and they never delivered it. Had to go to front desk to get it and then it was disgusting. No lobby coffee except for the ripoff cafe. Im a Hilton honors member, love all hilton properties, but this one was not up to par. Hated just about everything about this hotel. Should have paid the extra few bucks for the jefferson down the street.
