Unique stay opportunity with amazing food. Sleeping on futon and tatami above a sushi restaurant is as about Japanese as an experience can get. I would recommend this location to everything and the food was sublime - the 13 course dinner has ruined me for sushi any where else and the breakfast was great too.

Our family had an excellent experience! When we first arrived and entered the sushi restaurant, we were not sure, but the traditional japanese rooms were nice and the bathroom and toilets were very nice and clean. But the highlight is the incredible sushi dinner. The chef gives you an experience, not just a dinner. This was by far the best sushi we had in Japan and amoung the best we ever had. Worth eating there if in Miyajima (which is worth the trip as it's beautiful). We highly recommend for an authentic Japanese stay, but a must for the sushi!

Lovely hosts. The dinner is a must-try—it’s omakase, prepared by the hosts themselves, and it’s the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. The breakfast is also wonderful. After dinner, I strongly recommend walking to Itsukushima Shrine and the torii gate, which are just a few minutes away. Once all the tourists have left, you can enjoy the quiet island and the beautiful views all to yourself.

This is a real ryokan experience, with a lot of thought from the owner to make it a nice experience. Location is great , extra mattresses are available. For us it was expensive, but once you have the dinner and breakfast, you understand why. He makes exquisite sushi for dinner, fresh. He also makes a great breakfast, omelette, salmon, broth, yoghurt n fruit, pancake and juice. The dinner is. best food I have ever eaten, and I didn’t even really like sushi. All fish and rice, with delicate flavours designed for one mouthful each we had around 15. so delicious oyster scallops otoro squid prawn loads of different fish. Warm. We added drinks and these were inexpensive like £2-4 each. I had a v generous serving of sake. There’s also an outside terrace with partial view of the torii gate. Once we had eaten we felt like we had a bargain here!! There are two spacious bedrooms, extra mattresses sinks in I rooms one toilet and one shower room. Only one group is there at a time so it is private. The air con worked well and there were plenty of mattresses. The blackout binds were effective.

The kindness of the owner is what made this stay the best in my entire trip! It was raining at night, so the owner drove me to the Tori gate just to see it lit up at night. He also gave recommendations to a beautiful Sakura park nearby. On top of that, in the early morning I wanted to feed the deer, and he went to a spot he knew to call them over so I could feed the deer. The room was also spacious with a nice balcony, and the bathroom was very modern and clean. It’s very quiet so I could relax a lot. But at the end, it is the kindness of the owner that makes such a huge difference. The welcoming atmosphere and warmth made the trip to Miyajima memorable.

This is a great place to stay for an authentic Japanese experience. The included dinner was delicious and we had a memorable time with the sushi chef. Staying on Miyajima Island allowed us to take a nice evening walk and this ryokan is close to all the sites. We truly enjoyed our stay.
