We were put in a room immediately across from the elevators, which dinged every time the elevator car stopped at our floor. When I asked the desk for another room, I was told that because I'd booked through hotels.com, I couldn't be moved. Put another way, booking through them, as opposed to directly with Hampton, resulted in my getting an inferior room.
Turned out to not be as much of an issue -- the noise didn't wake us up. Still . . .
