The Ryan Mansion was like stepping back in time to the turn of the 20th century. The mansion circa 1911 with rooms on the second and third floors accessible by first a grand staircase then steep climb to the third. The decor and artwork are a feast for one's eye, matching the amazing breakfast creations prepared by Mary. Our room was a large with two beds, three arm chairs and a large modern bathroom with shower and separate soaker tub. Unlike some hotel beds that leave one stiff and tired in the morning, the beds in the Mansion were extremely comfortable and left us rested and ready to tackle our day in St. John's. Our stay was made even more enjoyable by our congenial host Mary. When we visit Newfoundland again, Ryan Mansion will be our first choice of a place to stay.

Stunning character boutique property with fabulous spacious rooms (excellent linens, towels, beds, in-room coffee, wifi, and sitting areas) and common dining, bar and reception areas. St Johns is a very fun city. So glad we stayed at Ryan Mansion -- good breakfast every morning, charming hotel and great walkable location. BUT, the real treasure is Mary who shares Newfoundland color with a smile.

We stayed at the Ryan Mansion for 4 nights and it was a lovely stay. The beds were very comfortable, it’s close to downtown, very clean, and Mary, who wears all the hats in the hotel, was super accommodating. Her breakfasts were delicious! Upon arrival we noticed our room, which was on the 4th floor (so lots of stairs which was fine for us), was very clean but a bit dark due to a small window. We also felt the walls in our room could use a paint job to freshen it up. Parking is also a bit tricky but there is a designated spot if you need it. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful. And I can’t say enough about Mary’s breakfasts and her attention to detail. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She is a sweetheart and made our stay that much more enjoyable. We felt right at home during our stay.

The hotel, is more like a B&B with luxury private bathrroms. In this day and age, a rare find, exquite woodwork, art, and furniture. Can you imagine.... a fully stocked bar for guests to use with an honesty booklet for saying what you used. In case you don't look closely at the site, previous guests have been king/prince Charles, and princess Margret.

Beautiful, historic building. Rooms were well equipped, lovely and spacious. Beds and linens were very comfortable. Breakfast was yummy. Mary is a delight who gives her all to ensure a pleasant stay.
