Great location! Good food options even at the hotel restaurant. Some noise from the traffic on the main road, but not much.

This property is in a good situation for easy access to lots of walks in surrounding area. Plus easy access to bus routes to Snowdon etc. the village is delightful. Will visit it again

The web page states Free breakfast with every room type, but the confirmation was room only. When i asked about this i was told i had chosen this option. We were in room 38, in the roof. The room was cold on arrival, the heating was off , it never came on, but there was a small plug in heater. The window didn't close and the wind kept opening it. The lift was adjoined to the room so it made a terrible noise every time it was called. This room looks nothing like the images on Hotels.com The bar area was nice with a good selection of drinks, and the Menu has nice options. The guys working there were nice. Parking opposite is free. I had to pay extra for breakfast. i feel i was mislead

My husband and I stayed here for a last-minute trip and were not disappointed. The hotel is charming - it's an older building with an old-world feel to it. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful and the location cannot be rivaled. We definitely have plans to return the next time we're in the UK.

I have visited several times over the past few years and watch it slowly decline. Now with new management the change is wonderful. There is still room for improvement but i will visit again to see how it grows more popular. The building is old but has a character that many modern hotels lack. I wish the new team all the bestfor the future.

Old, charming and interesting. Understaffed. We arrived to check in at 10:45pm. Thr doors were locked there was no bell and we could not get in. Thr website said checkin was 3pm onward with no mention of time limit.

Near Pen y Pass

Six mile drive from Pen y Pass car park and therefore convenient after a tiring day. Service was slow due to minimal staffing but staff were friendly and efficient once you had their attention. Sheets, bath, toilet and sink were clean but other areas of the hotel rather dusty and spiders settled in ceiling corners throughout. Very difficult to find a place to have an evening meal in the village, some places closed at 5.30 pm during the early part of the week and only a few were open for food for an hour only 6.30 to 7.30 and had “ sorry full” signs. Difficult to find a cleared table for Breakfast which was cooked to order and arrived quickly.

On arrival (evening)told rooms not been cleaned due to being short staffed , we were then given a room on the top floor (36) which did not look like pictures online (very disappointing), it was small and dated, and decor very tired , a little grubby. It was at the back over looking the ventilation systems and boiler rooms . Needed window open as extremely hot and the noises and smells were very unpleasant . Difficulty sleeping. Breakfast was very good , a good selection.

Not the best...

In need of some serious refurbishment! The hotel is clean enough, but needs some money spent on it. Worn carpets, flaking paint, showers not working, windows that won't fully close. Not a great experience, especially for the prices charged. I aways try to support independent hotels, but this one was an own-goal. Never again. One positive - the poor guys running reception, the bar, acting as a waiter (on his own) was polite and welcoming.

The property needs updating, it was clean but interior looks tired. We asked to be moved from our first room as we had a view of a dirty roof and a ventilation unit. Not what you want when visiting an area of outstanding beauty or the £200 we paid to stay for 2 night. We got upgrade to another room with a much better view of the mountains. There was an issue with rusty water leaking from the ceiling into the bath from the bathroom above, but informed manager and a handyman came to dress the issue. There was an issue with the gutter outside, with rain dripping from it to the flat roof outside our room keeping us awake at night. The bed was comfy though. Breakfast although nice, felt we were rushed to order our hot breakfast. Staff were welcoming and happy to deal with our issues.

Royal Goat is a Royal Pain

This hotel looked OK in the pictures, but reality was something different. The hotel has 'history', but that's all. I don't think it's been updated since the 1950's. On top of that, we booked months in advance - but when we arrived they said we hadn't paid and had to pay again. We have since confirmed payment, but I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for months to get a refund of the duplicate payment. Beddgelert is a nice place and I would have recommended their sister property Saracens Head instead - except that they have also been stone-walling us on our attemp to get a refund. At this point, I would recommend avoiding both properties to be safe. A real low spot in an otherwise wonderful trip to Wales.

Told that Tesco vouchers had not been paid and we would have to pay for room so went somewhere else would like my money back as we did not stay. Property was damp smelling in reception and looked rundown and uncared for.

Two night stay - If you’re looking for somewhere to stay after walking the mountains then this is ok. If you want a comfortable stay I suggest you explore the other hotels in the area. We had to wait to check in - one person was covering both the bar and the reception. Our room was spacious but like a fridge - we had to request an additional plug in heater. Had this not been provided it would have been a very unpleasant stay. The bar was closed when we returned to the hotel at 8pm on the Sunday evening had we known we would have stayed out later it was like returning to the Marie Celeste Even though we prepaid for our stay we were asked both on our arrival and when checking out to pay for our accommodation and breakfast. All in all not the best experience.

A little Welsh Gem

Clean room with ensuite facilities. Friendly staff at hotel. Good choice for breakfast (full Welsh+options). Excelent meals otherwise - good potions of all meals taken which were piping hot and freshly made - impressed! A bit out of the way but worth the effort.

SCAM, not a hotel, not worth a pound

This place is a scam, I have stayed at better no-stat hotels than this. Price and quality must match, but I paid 170 £ for something worth less than 40. The guys that run it do try to, but they lave the skills, knowledge and basic competencies. Groundlevel restaurant windows are so dirty (those were their main attraction) floors were full of last weeks crums, drinks were hot and after my arm got stuck by the grime on the table I simply dropped breakfast as I did not want to risk food poisening. The rooms might have passed as hostelrooms in the 80ies but nothing worked, no aircondition, Bulls were all gone. This place piger to be shut down or renovated and run by people who know what they are doing. Have not had such a bad hotel experience since backpacking in Indonesia in 1992, and there the room cost 5£.

Lovely menu - particularly loved the Goat curry and my son wolfed down the ribs. Friendly staff. Only gripe would be that the showers were mounted way too low. I could only wash my hair by kneeling in the bath.

Booked this hotel for a weekend due to location to Watkin Path. Staff so kind & helpful, Rooms clean & tidy with ensuite bathrooms including baths in two out of 3 rooms booked. Use of lift to rooms. Breakfast selection plentiful and hot, evening meals superb & well priced. Hotel also offers a cool room to store food & drinks for your climb, as well as offering a snack pack to buy for your day out. The Goat Hotel is based in Beddgelert & walking distance to amenities. We will definitely be booking for a return visit.
