Did not get room to the standard we paid for it was noisy and cold and did not come up to the expectations that were advertised. The room looked out on to wheelie bins and beer barrels, came to breakfast room which was very cold property had not got adequate heating as the bar area was cold as well. Other pubs in the town were warm and cosy.

A good location

We were happy with the room we had in that it was comfortable, spacious and clean. We weren’t however expecting the room to be next to the pub. There was a window which looked straight out onto the street so we had to keep the blinds closed. The traffic was fairly noisy in the morning but not a big problem for us. We had good service at breakfast but found the choice to be fairly limited.

Very welcoming and homely. The food was really good, and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms were well appointed with a very comfortable bed. We stayed on a Sunday evening, and thoroughly enjoyed the pub quiz. We will deffo stay again

Great Hotel ideal for a weekend walking in the Peak District. Great Staff, great breakfast and a good selection of evening meals, a lovely Pub to relax with a drink after a hard day trekking. Ample free Parking was a massive bonus, as Castleton is a busy little place at the weekends.

Motorbike holiday with friends

Fantastic 3 night stay! , excellent base to explore Castleton and surrounding area . Very friendly and helpful staff, clean and very comfortable rooms, lovely food and amazing breakfast! The pub parking (their own car park on the other side of the road) was safe and secure and we never struggled to find a space. The only downside was the Wi-Fi connection was patchy and didn’t seem to reach the rooms upstairs however this won’t stop us returning for another fantastic stay in the future! Thank you Faye and team for a fabulous short break !

Boneheads

Boneheads. Needed to leave “hotel” at 6am Monday to go to work. Told I could not be “let out” until 7:00am! Had to find somewhere else to stay at last minute, what a pain. Staff Could not care less. Avoid like the plague, you have been warned!

Short break in Castleton

We arrived at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Castleton on Sunday afternoon, We were welcomed warmly. We were encouraged to book in for our evening meal - which we did. We stayed in Room 3. Room 3 is a small double room, with a small en suite shower room. Unfortunately, the toilet seat didn't stay up - which is a problem for blokes! My husband wasn't impressesd. The only window in the room was a sky light directly above the bed. There was no way of opening this for ventilation. There was no way of covering the window for sleep time. Our evening meal was mediocre. We didn't eat there again, as we were staying there for 3 nights, and the veggie choices were very limited! Due to COVID19 restrictions, servicing of the rooms was obviously limited, however, refreshing the towels etc was no problem at all. All in all we had a lovely stay in a lovely village.
